decades? pedophila’s been around centuries, probably just about forever so it likely started in Hollywood around the time Hollywood became the name of the place.
Believable. The studio system of the time was completely set up for it. If you were a bankable star the studio didn't care what you were up to in private and would put all it's hollywood magic and media control into creating a wholesome image of you and then defending that image regardless of what tawdry business you were into. And they had the clout to do it. Arrested with a teenage boy? Buried. Found with a dead girl? Forgotten.
And if history has taught us anything, it's that gays that don't fear consequences or judgement do some really creepy things.
