They are GUARDS - not tourist attractions. Unless she is deaf, wouldn’t she have heard him approaching? >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

maybe, maybe not.

He had all sorts of room to march around, a slight 24 inch detour. She was not a threat.

Bad behavior as far as I’m concerned.

I am not impressed at all.

Conduct unbecoming.

I’m guessing in the training manual it says ‘a guardsman doesn’t stop or walk around anyone...’

The poms have a reputation for teasing and/or trying to upstage the Queen’s Guard:

STAND BACK FROM THE QUEEN’S GUARD!

You deviate around this woman, who has crossed the rope line, on the next time back, he will have three people over the rope line. The next time back, there will be 10.

Everybody in that crowd will take cues from what the guard does, which will indicate what is and what is not acceptable. What is acceptable is to keep to your side of the rope line. As soon as the guard indicates it is acceptable to be over the line by deviating from his patrol pattern, he invites additional crossers.

A better solution, IMHO, would be to move everybody out of the plaza, and move the rope line 60 feet farther away from the building.
