CLEARWATER, Fla. Hundreds from around Tampa Bay marched with the family of the Clearwater man fatally shot over a parking spot.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says the shooting was justified under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. The deadly shooting at a convenience store in unincorporated Clearwater occurred Thursday.
Sgt. Spencer Gross of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office tells ABC Action News the shooting stemmed from an argument over a parking spot.
Deputies said Michael Drejka, of Clearwater, confronted a woman who parked in a handicapped parking space outside the Circle A Food Store on Sunset Point Road.
Witnesses told deputies the two were arguing because Drejka was upset the woman parked there even though she wasn't handicapped. The woman's boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, of Clearwater, was inside the store to buy his little boy a candy bar, according to the store owner.
McGlockton exited the store to defend his girlfriend and shoved Drejka to the ground.
Drejka responded by taking out a pistol and shooting McGlockton in the chest. McGlockton ran back into the store where his five-year-old son was standing at the front door, watching the entire incident happen right before his eyes. McGlockton fell to the ground inside of the store and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators say multiple people witnessed the shooting and called 911.
Drejka is a legal concealed weapons permit holder and will not be charged because of Florida's Stand Your Ground law, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

How will he go? Baseball bat, nice and slow?
There are worse things in stir, so I've heard...
My brother works in a prison, doing the nurse work, interviewing the newbies to make sure they wont implode or explode.
My favorite story, He had a guy eyeing him for a beating during the interview, like a steak dinner, and the guards saw all the signs. He leaped at my brother, and the guards slammed his head into the ground. Off to the hospital, like humpty dumpty.
Most of the newbies are on heroine, and spend the first week shitting and puking all over their cell.
Dejka shouldn’t have tried to play cop, but that shove changed everything.
You may think one should accept being violently assaulted as that guy as, but speaking personally, as an example...I have a heart defect and my surgeons have told me that if I fall to the ground like that, or am violently pushed in the chest like that, that it could actually rupture my heart and kill me.
I won’t let myself be assaulted like that, I won’t accept the chance of being killed and leaving my family bereft of my support, I’ll do what it takes to stop people like that man from assaulting me.
True, I’m an unusual case, and absolutely true...Dejka was in the wrong in trying to play cop and getting all aggressive towards that man’s wife.
But in the final moments, if someone is violently assaulted they have the right to defend themselves.
- When the boyfriend - who was a fit 28-year old - came out he saw a hunched over decrepit looking specimen of a man 6' away from the door of his car arguing with his girlfriend inside that closed car door.
[Lower left: door opening]
- Only when the girlfriend could see her boyfriend coming out, did she open her door and come out and get in the face of the older guy from another direction, distracting him from her approaching boyfriend.
- The boyfriend then bull rushes the distracted guy - who never sees or hears a sound from the boyfriend's approach - and blindside slams the guy to the ground. What kind of twenty-something thug does it take to do this to a man so much older and less fit than himself?
- Contrary to others' claim the GIF shows the boyfriend then moved in on the downed man and did not stop moving in over the downed guy till he began drawing his weapon. Then only when the weapon is fully drawn does he backup a little - but then only after it is TOO LITTLE TOO LATE.
- Anyone who's shot a handgun qualification course would remember the close-range quick draw drills/segments that call for a draw and fire in one motion of 2 rounds in 2 seconds (and/or 3 seconds). That means that at close range you don't draw unless you are justified to fire and you don't draw to hold you gun out when the threat is close enough to grab it or knock it away in a split second.
For the couple, a verbal argument quickly triggered a well executed move to surround, distract and launch a surprise physical attack on a older out of shape guy. Anyone who has watched any of the countless videos of ghetto group attacks against their solitary victims knows they always begins with a knockdown and are always followed by a stumping that results in "death or serious bodily injury."
Those actions of the couple being against a physically lesser man, who was legally armed, gave that man the "reasonable belief" of the "imminent danger of death or serious bodily injury" required to use deadly force. That deadly shot changed the reasonably likely outcome a legally unprovoked physical attack...
...JUST AS THE COPS CALLED IT!
6 Florida arrests for "Markeis Mcglockton" showing similar photos and the same DOB of 3/28/90 (and now 28-yrs old):
[ Determining whether he has a record in other states in recent years is beyond my resources and definitely something that the media would rather conceal than reveal.]
"6 Florida arrests for "Markeis Mcglockton" showing similar photos and the same DOB of 3/28/90 (and now 28-yrs old):"
The predator Drejka wheeled into the parking lot at the last moment because he saw "prey" in his "personal" handicapped spot.
Look, either Pinellas is going to prosecute him, in which case the brothers are going to get him in stir, or the brothers are going to deal with him on the street.
And I say "good on that". This little mother-effer has been asking for it for a few years, and now he's going to get it.
You can't have armed CCW people wheeling around confronting other people.
That isn't how it works - and that's how you get your gun rights yanked by the Lefties.
If I lived in that town, I would print up a few hundred signs that said "Drejka Personal Parking Space - violaters will be shot" and put them on every last handicapped space in Clearwater.
The "authoritays" would blow a gasket, but the mocking would be epic.
Maybe he's a welfare cheat or deadbeat.
He's got that sadsack look, and the whirling internal anger.
We'll find out.
He's probably been like this since his mother and his wife died.
But AS THE COPS DETERMINED what the dead man and his girlfriend did to the shooter did meet all required legal elements (found in quotations in post 205) to justify use of deadly force!
No matter what you or others think specifically of the shooter's personality or generally of neighborhood busybodies, parking-lot Barney Fife's or whatever.....
The brothers are going to deal with the "confrontation punk", one way or another.
We're talking a sound like a ripe watermelon.
He should have taken his medicine when it got offered to him.
Now it's REALLY gonna hurt, after it "gets dark" all around him...
The fewer of these (deadly even when unarmed) predatory thugs on the street the safer everyone young/old black/white will be.
Sux to be him. I don't do stupid things, and I don't get myself into stupid jams, nor do I end up killing strangers over parking spots.
I really don't see how the Pinellas prosecutor can avoid having Drejka arrested for murder.
Otherwise, he gets to continue playing "mall cop" until he gets jumped in a back alley.
His girlfriend will have to find another thug to bust up people she disagrees with. “good on that”
Aggravated battery, resisting arrest with violence, disorderly conduct...
Looks like his behavior combined with his girlfriends antics put him in an early grave. Poor guy.
Every few months out of Philly, we see another tragic incident where a Thug puts an old man or young boy in the hospital with life threatening injuries, a foot stomping with permanent life long damages. Teeth, nose, jaws, skull fractures, eye loss, death, strokes, crippling brain damages.
A few years ago, a couple of thugs knocked a 70 year old man down on the sidewalk after demanding his money, and he opened fire. I think he killed one of them. They never got the chance to cripple him.
I say “good for that”
This cop gets some “good to that”, from the brothers. Your right, some dont tolerate civilization.
“Switch colors and do you feel the same? I doubt it.”
Given that my life has been threatened on three separate occasions by blacks and that a group, guns and knives were involved it may be that my threat assessment is somewhat associated with that. It’s not race, it’s reality.
