CLEARWATER, Fla. Hundreds from around Tampa Bay marched with the family of the Clearwater man fatally shot over a parking spot.
Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says the shooting was justified under Florida's "Stand Your Ground" law. The deadly shooting at a convenience store in unincorporated Clearwater occurred Thursday.
Sgt. Spencer Gross of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office tells ABC Action News the shooting stemmed from an argument over a parking spot.
Deputies said Michael Drejka, of Clearwater, confronted a woman who parked in a handicapped parking space outside the Circle A Food Store on Sunset Point Road.
Witnesses told deputies the two were arguing because Drejka was upset the woman parked there even though she wasn't handicapped. The woman's boyfriend, Markeis McGlockton, of Clearwater, was inside the store to buy his little boy a candy bar, according to the store owner.
McGlockton exited the store to defend his girlfriend and shoved Drejka to the ground.
Drejka responded by taking out a pistol and shooting McGlockton in the chest. McGlockton ran back into the store where his five-year-old son was standing at the front door, watching the entire incident happen right before his eyes. McGlockton fell to the ground inside of the store and he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Investigators say multiple people witnessed the shooting and called 911.
Drejka is a legal concealed weapons permit holder and will not be charged because of Florida's Stand Your Ground law, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office.

“You are a fool or misinformed. Pick one!”
Neither, Macho Man. You CANNOT legally shoot someone because they dissed you or because you are angry or want revenge for being shoved!
If I was a macho man, I would use my kung fu skills to disarm the larger younger attacker.
Since I am not, I’ll just shoot them instead and NOT be charged, just like this case.
I see you chose fool!
“Since I am not, Ill just shoot them instead and NOT be charged, just like this case.”
The final chapter in this case hasn’t been written. And in a HUGE number of places, THIS shooter would be in jail already!
You run around shooting off your mouth about how you’ll shoot down anyone who disses you, let alone disturbs your equilibrium. If you ARE ever in a shooting incident, see how well your publicly stated willingness to kill for your pride keeps you out of jail.
You are a damned idiot, as are the Freepers running around praising a bad shoot. The piece of scum who did this shooting was a nightmare for CCW, and you are no better.
Veronica Cintron on Twitter [1:17 PM - 24 Jul 2018]: "Attorneys for the family of man involved in last week's deadly parking spot dispute in "stand your ground" case are asking state attorney's office to file charges against shooter Michael Drejka. LIVE on @BN9"
Been doing more digging.
The full video released by the sheriff shows that he was basically driving by on the street in back of the parked car, probably on the way home (he lives less than half a mile away).
It looks like he saw a "confrontation opportunity" in HIS parking lot, and kind of jumped off the street into the lot, and spun around 180 degrees, coming to a stop perpendicular to the parked car.
He checked the whole car over for handicapped markings, then went off on the woman.
A couple of customers stopped in while this was going on, and were clearly listening to the argument.
I think a guy that arrived just after the confrontation started tipped off the boyfriend in the store.
You must be a blooming idiot to post that non-sense to me. I never said, I would shoot anyone who “disses” me.
I did say, I would shoot people that “assault” me. Violently assault some random stranger and see how well you do!
“I did say, I would shoot people that assault me.”
If you shoot WHILE being assaulted, you should be OK. If you shoot when the guy is leaving, you will NOT be OK. This guy was backing away when shot. An unarmed man backing away from an armed man pointing a gun is generally not considered a reasonable threat to the gunman’s life.
There are two so far, one in 2012 that's on record with the police, and then one last month.
He should never have been CCW after the 2012 incident.
The claim that Drejka pulled a couple of magazines out of the glove box and put them on the dash of his vehicle should have been easy to verify - check his glove box, and if there were a couple of mags in it, case closed, CCW revoked.
The yutes could have randomly accused Drejka of "brandishing" - but how would they have known the number of magazines that "he pulled from his glove box"?
Considering how many able-bodied Democrats see handicap parking as their own entitlement zone, I complain about their abuse. Another good idea ruined by too many selfish me-firsters.
Unlike you, I’m not seeing any colors in this. I’m seeing a violent thug slam a peaceful man to the ground, and then getting his reward. Like a kid kicking a dog and then getting bit in the face, and then wondering why the dog would do such an awful thing.
Maybe the thug that you adore was looking for a violent altercation and got exactly what he wanted, a man knocked dizzy on the ground, vulnerable and scared to death that he was about to die. Maybe he was hoping he would try to fight so he could pummel him into a bloody pulp. So, maybe he got his wish, he fought back, and your hero lost.
Sometimes, when we get what we want, it sucks.
I agree. I’m the same age, and I carry. Same reasons.
I may only have a few years left or I may have 20, but spending them in a wheel chair after a beating isn’t on my bucket list.
Some pretty clear video, perfect use of lethal force. Vicious thug finally meets his last victim, face to face.
I notice the woman gets out of the car as soon as she sees her Thug coming, to get in the mix and stir it up and get him hot. A real princess.
True, but ultimately he did cause his victim’s shooting death, in being all hyper and aggressive over a stupid parking space.
Concealed carriers are NOT policemen! It’s not our job to enforce rules or right wrongs, our job is to protect lives, period...and the operative theme is, when you see a bad guy committing a crime, it’s not your place to go and stop it, regardless of whether or not you’re justified in killing him later, after your aggression caused him to assault you.
He was assaulted, big time.
An aggressive shove to concrete could actually be fatal, he was justified in stopping the bad guy...however he did provoke the bad guy by getting all aggressive against the guy’s wife.
Actually, in watching that over and over, it seems to me like the bad guy was backing away after the bad guy drew his gun.
If the threat ceases, you can’t really pursue it later!

Either way, the brothers are going to get him - either in stir, or on the street.
It's actually pretty wild.
Basically, the family pulls up, and the kid and the father get out and go into the store [30 seconds].
As the door of the store is literally closing, the sh*tbird "parking space cop" pulls off the street as he appears to be on his way home. It looks like a last-second decision on his part - another instant and he would have had to go through the intersection instead.
He pulls up perpendicular to the "violator" car without actually parking, then goes and inspects first the rear of the vehcile and then the front of the vehicle for handicapped stickers.
Then he starts what he's been waiting for - the "CONFRONTATION". All this happens in about 45 seconds since he arrived.
Meanwhile, other vehicles are pulling up and parking, and another is getting ready to leave.
Parking lot cop gets a look or two from ALL of them, because he's apparently quite loud, with gesticulations.
One of the new arrivals (a guy), appears to go inside and tip off the boyfriend.
The boyfriend pops out the door [time from his entrance to the store and then exit - 2 minutes flat].
He walks up to parking lot cop and shoves him to the ground.
Then, he gets shot.
Total elapsed time from the time the family pulled in to the parking lot till the father gets shot - 2 minutes, 45 seconds.
Parking lot cop is a fast worker.
=============
I say it's wild because of all the stuff that could have prevented "toting dude" from starting the sh*t.
> He might have been distracted, and gone through the intersection instead
> A car pulling out almost blocked Drejka from pulling in
> Had the father been 5 seconds slower out of the car, he would have been there for the beginning of the tirade
> There were a couple of big dudes with a tow truck parked right next to where the action was at that got in their vehicle and left just as Drejka was pulling up
He actually had to swing around 180 degrees to begin the "confrontation".
And he was going to go through the intersection - but he couldn't resist his "favorite game".

[The store owner] Salous says Drejka has a history of confrontations in and around his store.
"He told me I can't help it. Every time I do this I get in trouble, and I can't help it. I keep doing it," Salous said.
Right. Once he confronted the privileged princess, it was a done deal. A beat down in the parking lot or in the prison, or at a later date by another thug.
Your spot on.
He had a Golden Unlucky Window of two minutes.
On the bright side, he'll get to join his dead wife. It's just going to hurt a little more.
I love how his lady jumps out of the car, and creates a distraction for the victim as her goon sneaks up for the blind sided body slam, good team work. You cant teach that in school, its pure instinct.
