A BART passengers tip ended a daylong police manhunt for the violent felon suspected of fatally stabbing a BART passenger and injuring her sister in a sudden, unprovoked attack on the MacArthur Station platform in Oakland.
Nia Wilson, 18, died on the platform Sunday night after a man identified as 27-year-old transient John Lee Cowell approached and quickly stabbed her and Lahtifa Wilson, 26, both in the neck, police said. The older sister was hospitalized overnight.
In my close to 30 years of police experience, it was probably one of the most vicious attacks that Ive seen, BART Police Chief Carlos Rojas said at a news conference Monday.
For Cowell, 21 hours on the lam ended almost exactly where they began: H
e was located on another BART train about 6:30 p.m. Monday, after at least two passengers tipped off police that they had spotted the suspected killer.

they are really trying to make this a ‘racial hate-crime’ here on the local news last night. ..
Those two things don't quite go together.
Maybe he really hates hip hop?
We have put up speakers with some of our cameras at one commercial property. The homeless dont like our comments while we watch them on camera. Great deterrent !
Also our zoning laws allowed us to add a caretaker quarters once the property had demonstrated the need for on site protection.
Trying to sell most of our California commercial properties but may be adding another caretaker quarters at another site soon. The care taker idea works well.
On another property (bare land) that was over run with homeless we worked a deal with the sheriff, health Dept and Fire Dept and now allow 2 homeless guys to stay on the property in exchange for keeping the others out.
At times wed had 20-30 homeless at that property with many adjoining properties with buildings having break-ins on a regular basis. That has now stopped.
I visit the site regularly and provide trash pick up.
Not ideal way to live but an improvement from how it was on both properties.
My wife and I have worked with local homeless for years. Allowed us some insights on who to trust and what ideas to try.
Praying the properties we have on market will sell.
Sick of California but will not leave our farm.
Right now, Trying to get set up with a drone with thermal camera to observe the forested areas around our house. Hard to monitor homeless there who can escape confrontation through brush when being presumed.
Want to know whos hiding around us. Fire is the biggest worry.
We have great law enforcement in our area but you know California laws.
Our other farm neighbors banding together to counter Sacramento idiocy.
We cant vote this insanity out here but we are not helpless to take our own action
Hope these ideas are of help to you.
Or maybe they had a minor eschatological difference of opinion on the origin of the East coast - West coast rivalry.
He wasn’t a racist. He was a wigger wannabe.
Bring back beat cops, nightsticks, and anti-vagrancy ordinances.
I avoid public transportation.
Heck, I avoid cities.
