Georgia House Speaker David Ralston demanded that state Rep. Jason Spencer resign after he yelled racial slurs and exposed himself in an episode of Sacha Baron Cohens Showtime series that aired late Sunday.
Spencer dropped his pants and repeatedly used the n-word in the episode of Who Is America? Spencer had earlier threatened legal action to prevent the network from airing footage of him.
In a statement shortly after the episode aired, Ralston said Spencers actions and language in the video are reprehensible.
Representative Spencer has disgraced himself and should resign immediately, said Ralston. Georgia is better than this.
Other Republican leaders also swiftly condemned Spencer. Secretary of State Brian Kemp removed the lawmaker from his list of endorsements ahead of Tuesdays GOP runoff for governor and urged him to apologize. And Gov. Nathan Deal called his language appalling and offensive.

Maybe people who are offended should just change the channel?
That is an interesting comment.
Setting aside for a moment that it would not occur to me to demean a chicken or scream demeaning insults at beeves prior to slaughtering, I'm not sure where your aspirations are leading in regards to “demeaning” unrepentant murderers.
Are you suggesting the accursed should be pummeled in a gauntlet line in the street - or maybe in a stadium - prior to being roasted?
And how does your proposed demeanings square with the constitutional injunction against cruel and unusual punishments?
Good Lord. It sounds like they found someone unstable and exploited it. He should not only step down, he should see if his insurance covers mental health counseling.
“Maybe people who are offended should just change the channel?”
We have the right not to view material that offends us.
True. My wanting that is more hypothetical, than anything. Just another way to show how hypocritical the Left and all their liberal acolytes are. Only reason they’re in Georgia is for all the taxpayer money the state, counties and cities give away to the film industry, which is never recouped, and because they don’t have to pay union wages are abide by union rules.
Rev, Tell it to the brothers, when they stop using it, so will I.
Until then they can kiss my dago butt.
Our particular subconversation was based on whether or not there was a valid reason to demean a human being.
Lets start with a definition. “Demean” means to debase, to lower in value. I took the original apparent meaning in this conversation to be equivalent to “ridicule, to treat as less than oneself”.
All of those examples that I listed are, as seen from their behavior, less than normal people. In some cases so far less as to be considered less than human.
No one said anything about screaming insults at anyone (except for yourself. Perhaps we were working from differing definitions of demean). But I see no reason not to call a hog a hog so to speak.
We lost a lot in this society when we became afraid to shame those who do shameful things.
If the punishment is meted out to each and every violator of a law (say publicly executing murderers as an example) then it is no longer unusual.
The cruelty of a punishment (I believe) should be based on the cruelty of the crime. I have a friend who believes certain offense should be punished by death by wiffle bat. That is the perp should be beaten to death slowly so that they experience all the pain and torment that their victim did. I can’t really say I disagree with him for some cases but I would have to back off a bit due to the psychological damage caused to the executioners.
In any event some perps should be demeaned as they have demonstrated themselves to be less than normal.
Listen to your chaplain, USS Alaska, he’s giving out good advice. :>)
I don’t like Borat, but giving that Rep. a pass is wrong. Borat didn’t go to a support home for mentally feeble and trick someone there. This man is a 4th term state senator.
I’m not giving him a pass. I said he should step down and seek help.
“The cruelty of a punishment (I believe) should be based on the cruelty of the crime.”
That is an interesting comment.
Here’s what others have written: “Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.”
This is Amendment VIII of the United States Constitution. There was a time when the Bill of Rights was valued by all sides of the political spectrum.
I was myself angry about something else when I wrote this message. I was angry about half the NRA leadership having sex with this red headed Russian spy and seeing how a 4 term state senator gets fooled by Borat made me sad when thinking about their chances against a KGB trained manipulator.
Well if he served in NYS Government like Minority leader Skelos and majority leader Shelly Silver he'd be knee deep in corruption and about to get convicted. We need term limits for these morons to protect them from the inevitable problems their stupidity will get them in to.
The only victims here are the rest of us on the right who continue to get slandered by the behavior of a few imbeciles.
First, you just can’t use that language anymore...period. Like it or not, them’s the facts.
Second, any Republican that does not comprehend and accept the immense double standards they face both in the media and the public at large, has no business in politics.
This is just another needless self inflicted wound. The politician in question is no victim.
My worry is that if these people in positions of power fall for Borat like morons then what chance do they have against KGB trained red headed vixens?
ZERO
