I cannot imagine how tough it is to write a script for Dr. Who. I stopped watching not long into Peter Capaldi’s entrance. Not because I didn’t like him, but because Netflix (who I dropped) stopped streaming new episodes.
The tough part of writing the show is that there are tons of backstory that the Whovians know, and there would be a major revolt if something was done improperly. I’ve met a few Whovians, and it’s nearly a religion to them.

Chicks “clutching their chest” is always a crowd pleaser.

I loved Peter Capaldi’s version.
There is so much in old and new Who that I can’t keep up with. I don’t envy the writers so much.

A Time Lord regenerates into a Time Lady? Sorry, clutching (or fondling) her chest should come second. First should be grabbing his/her own crotch and screaming when discovering something's missing.
Third is checking out the adult setting on the sonic screwdriver...
(OK, that was over the line, I'll go back in the doghouse.)

This is ok, its been cannon for a while that one or more of Dr. Who’s incarnations was female.

Fan since 1978 but they lost me with a Time Lady. As if a lesbian companion, gender bending Master/Missy, married lesbian alien and human couple and other virtue signalling werent enough! I was at the February Dr Who con in LA which goes overboard about LGBT and of course the fans were thrilled. As Ive said before, the showrunner told us in LA that if we didnt like the choice, we needed to get over it. I can get over it very easily there are decades worth of previous shows to enjoy. If it survives this one, watch for a doctor of color next. No more Anglo-Saxon male Doctors.

I’ll stick with Red Dwarf.... the guy was a guy, the hologram was a guy, Cat was cool, and there were no villains who were annoying salt shakers on wheels that could be thwarted by a simple rubber door stop.

Red Dwarf had some great humor.
The Ace Rimmer ones were especially funny.

Not an avid fan but I do occasionally enjoy cheesy low-budget sci-fi entertainment. Dr. Who had its moments.
Did some research on every actor who played the title character. Every one up until now has been male, white, and British. If the intent was to diversify, they're still not there yet.

It is hard to believe that The Prisoner was released 50 years ago.

I agree that Baker was the best.
Bring back The Master or Davros!
They could never release an episode like “The Talons of Weng-Chiang” today.....

The audio dramas of The Prisoner are well worth picking up.
Mrs. Butterworth is back.

My wife and I gave up a couple of seasons ago also. We tried an episode last year and the companion was a rapid gay. We didn’t finish the episode.

Fortunately Amazon Prime streams all ten seasons of the "new" Doctor Who...Peter C. was bad enough but this new crap will lose me completely...Tennant & Smith were great...Their companions were great...Hate to see the show end, for me, like this...
IAC, fortunately I have DVDs for many of the "old" Dr Who's...
IMHO, Tom Baker ("old") and Matt Smith ("new") rank as the top 2 all time...

My boys (11, 16)have seen every single episode. Even watched the old Peter Cushing Dalek films from the 1960s.
They REFUSE to watch this "feminist" reboot. It's rather stunning.
