In my generation, (1970s) woman with tattoos were considered sluts.
Whenever I see a beautiful woman with tats, I immediately conclude that she is a SKANK!
Makes two of us.
I look deeper and see that she has issues, some so severe she’s sending the non verbal message “run away ASAP!”

Whenever I see a man with tatts and piercings , I think loser.
None of my multiple children or grandchildren have them. At least that can be seen. Lol.

Actually, it was more like Carnival side show freaks - unless it was discrete and tasteful like a butterfly or something like that strategically located where it did not show too much.
First time I remember seeing young people with heavy tattoos was when the band The Stray Cats hit the scene
They’ve become oddly popular with people in my generation (Gen X). I don’t get it.
Here’s a prediction though. The tatted people in their 40s are about to get old and wrinkly and saggy. That sight is going to cause the popularity of tattoos to drop through the floor. They’ll be associated with old geezers, and no young person is going to get them. :)
Playing off that...
I remember my college psych professor (mid 1980’s) lecturing on the Freud father/daughter dynamic. He said that if you go to pick up a girl, a bad relationship with her dad was a bigger green light than a tattoo.
Still true. When they are in their 40’s and they get their first tattoo... start lining up a divorce lawyer. They are cheating.
I look at folks’ eyes to try to decide what they may be like....
