Another consideration, one perp fled the scene while the wounded (?) perp was on the floor. Who knew whether the fleeing perp would return to avenge his partner's injury and/or rescue him? The Pharmacist was perfectly justified in: a) getting another loaded weapon, b) assuming the perp on the floor was still alive and a threat, and 3) assuming that the ROBBER on the floor was still armed.
Ditto. I even keep a gun in the pocket of my pajamas when I'm relaxing at home, and won't wear pajamas that don't have pockets. You never know when a home invasion might occur.
I was robbed at gunpoint about 35 years ago, and an acquaintance of mine was raped and murdered in her home about 20 years ago. I always stay vigilant and always carry. Fortunately, the only perp I ever had to shoot was a pitbull.
Ft. Worth is virtually West of the Pecos?
Let me guess. Feral descendants of Steven Austin’s kids again?
Righteous kill...
Kind of a rough area, but I’m still holding out hope for Como to get better.
Not everyone. Some prefer the status of Victim. I’m not in that group.
I heard on the radio earlier the FBI is handling this now. The coverup begins.
If in the heat of the moment you continue firing, I don’t think there’s anything anyone would do about it.
If you go get another gun, you need to be able to explain why you thought your life was still in danger.
I am trying to extrapolate the circumstances as you have related them. If I’m mischaracterizing the events, let me know.
While serious activity had take place prior to obtaining the new gun, you do have to explain why you were still in fear for your life, if you fire more shots.
Call the cops. Keep your eye on the guy who is down. If he tries to get and once again shows intent to harm you, start shooting again.
I believe that most people would agree, this is the standard you have to maintain.

“Officers are still searching for the gunmen in the area. Britt did not have a description of them...”
Then how the hell would they know if they found them?
Ditto. It's a very strange juxtaposition, with exclusive Ridglea almost right across the street. The organic development of the area really resulted in a bizarre neighborhood configuration.
My brother's church and one I attended works extensively in the Como neighborhood with poor and poorly behaving residents to better their lives. Niece was there a lot, which made me nervous. You can only do so much, though. Volition is a critical factor.
He ran out of ammo and the other aggressive perp's location was unknown. That's enough.
This criminal episode was clearly NOT over. NO ONE had been disarmed. The police had not arrived to take over. The scene was still unsecured. The other perp was still at large in the vicinity.
Most independent pharmacies are relatively small, with few places to hide or flee to. Considering the aggressive, violent actions of the perps, you had more than rational reason to believe they would continue to be aggressive and violent.
The cops WERE called. But as always, when seconds matter, the police are only minutes away.
I work in another part of Tarrant county but at a building with a Veritex bank branch on the ground floor. They have big 30.06 and 30.07 signs at the entrance to the bank. For those of you not in Texas a business has to post those signs to keep people with an LTC from entering whether carrying concealed or open. The robbers either intentionally or luckily (for them) entered a bank building where none of the patrons would be armed.
I am in the building across the street from Ridglea Country Club. We get all kinds of como 'residents' strolling thru our parking garage. I wonder if any ever manage to show up on the golf course? Lol.
I nickname these "sitting duck signs."
I tried looking up today's location on my Texas 3006 app but it didn't show up, maybe it's too new? If they do have them, the bank should be liable for the employees injuries after having taken away their right to defend themselves.
I'll offer to buy some of them something to eat. But they'll usually decline, saying they need "gas money."
