I live out in the Texas Hill Country between San Antonio and Blanco. This has been a very productive season for the deer population ... newborn fawns all over the place. It is not uncommon to see a small mound of spotty brown beside the road or ditch and it sometimes takes a minute to realize that it is a new fawn. The one in the video is very typical, probably born that day.

Thanks. I’ve seen them lying flat like that, but usually in a place where they’re somewhat hidden by grass or brush.
