As PGR88 pointed out, they didn’t do nearly the damage to him that they could have. He was lucky in that respect.

I’ve read elsewhere that two employees were stabbed, one in the leg and another in the torso.So this is really not one of those harmless, wacky ‘World’s Dumbest Criminals” type of things.
And yep, the owner needs to upgrade his defenses. Even a baseball bat would have been better than the chair they hit the perp with.
