Watch the number of prominent Never Trumpers grudgingly admitting Trump is doing a great job as President, made me think of something.
Back in 1993 and 2009, I ran into quite a few Dem Blue collar voters who told me "What is going on? I did not vote for ANY of this"
After the 2000 election, and prior to 09-11-01, and after 2004 you saw quite a few Bush voters say "what the?" about Bush.
Have any of you run into anyone who says "Man I wish I had not voted for Trump?" I haven't and that is a 1st time in my life I have not run into at least some one who says this about the current President.
I agree (with the exception of Reagan). I'm stuck with my screen name. I'd change it but I don't want to lose my sign up date.
I’m pretty sure if you send Jim Robinson a nice friendly freepmail and maybe a donation, he’d help you out with that, I know he has done it for others with unfortunately chosen screen names.
I originally voted against Hillary, I am now happy I gave that vote to Trump.
“I claim to be the very first open Trump supporter on Free Republic. May 2015.”
Strong supporter here since at least July 2015 based on google search of posts ... I’m pretty sure even earlier, but google searching craps out after only displaying a few pages of results ...
“I regret voting for Cruz in the primary, you know the whole strongest conservative thing and I was torn, what a dumb @$$ I was, my gut said DJT. Then Cruz turned into the ultimate d-nozzle”
initially i too was a Cruz supporter, buying into what turned out to be total bullshit about him being the greatest debater since the cosmos was founded (that shibolith was totally demolished after the 1st debate) ... but that support didn’t last long when Trump came out fearlessly blasting the media, the Dems, Hillary, and everyone within range, particularly hammering on illegal immigration, what the pundits then kept telling us was the the third rail of politics that couldn’t be touched ... and yes, at the same time that Trump was showing up he was a fearless titan, it also quickly became clear that Ted Cruz was as smarmy as they come and the whole “most brilliant man who ever lived” thing was a hollow sham persona he invented for the campaign trail ...
“A while ago I tried to go back to find my first post supporting Trump but gave up because I couldnt figure out how to it.”
I did a google as follows to try to find earlier posts supporting trump. Try:
site:www.freerepublic.com “be-baw” trump “2015 -”
and then look for 2015 posts as you page through the results ...
I repeatedly told my b-i-l that I had one expectation of DJT: That he would throw sand in the gears of the globalist machine. Mr Trump has done so, and so much more. My b-i-l remains a Trump hater while presenting himself as a thinking Christian conservative.
Worth a shot.
Well you certainly beat me.
I knew Trump was my favorite from July 2015. Thats when he gave out Lindsey Grahams phone number, and I figured out THIS guy is not only something completely different, but someone who knew Media was the REAL enemy of what Americans hold dear.
“Folks, remember that the entire vote margin responsible for his win over Hillary was only 107,500 well-placed votes. Every vote that swayed and finally landed on Donald Trump gave our country a respite from everything all of us FReepers have agonized over for years. I thank each of you and all the others who came over and I thank those who are becoming awakened and standing behind Trump at this time, too.”
i feel like a contributed a little to that 107,500. I tend to write mini-essays here at FR, and I spent many hundreds of hours reposting my essays on many dozens of news sites all over the U.S. furing the second half of 2015 and all of 2016.
That was back when most venues still allowed reader commentary and the paid trolls and bots weren’t drowning out voices of reason. (Of course, all of that has changed since then, because most news sites no longer allow reader posts because posting facts that contradict the lies and propaganda was too embarrassing and negated the propaganda, and the few remaining ones that still allow reader posts have been largely drowned out by paid trolls and bots.)
“He fights.”
pretty much what Lincoln said about Grant, and pretty much for the same reason: namely everyone was attacking Grant for his style, personality, etc.
I’m pretty sure there was some Trump support here in late 2010/early 2011 for the 2012 run. He was actually leading at one point in a couple of polls.
Thanks. I tried and that gave me a few more hits than the last time I tried but not nearly as many as I expected. Most of the google search results didn’t even link to FR. I searched for:
www.freerepublic.com be-baw Trump 2015-
Is that what you meant? I was a little confused by your quotation marks. Was I supposed to have used them in the search line?
Yes, but no other Republican WOULD have won the election. Besides, Trump is not really a Republican- he's a patriot.
I supported him from the beginning, which is why I'm back here again, after having left for many years.
Thank the Lord for JR's discernment.
“Was I supposed to have used them in the search line?”
yes. and you need to cut and paste my search string verbetum, including (and especially)the site: part ... the space - after 2015 in double quotes is important tooo
verbatim search string:
site:www.freerepublic.com “be-baw” trump “2015 -”
also, this link should do the same thing:
https://www.google.com/search?q=+site%3Awww.freerepublic.com+”be-baw”+trump+”2015+-"
Haha. It wasn’t long ago that you could not log onto Freerepublic without seeing the “Rove, you magnificent bastard” meme. Now, the Bushes are toxic and a photo of Judge Kavanaugh with Karl Rove is setting off alarm bells. Good luck with the new screen name!
On Judges alone Trump has been the best Conservative President ever. Given the Leftist assault on his “christian conservative vales” the last 3 decades your brother in law should love Trump
MOST of the Leftist agenda has been imposed by Courts, not Legislation
Regrets in voting for Trump? It sure would help your accusation if you could list a couple of those people. Because quite frankly, I haven't seen any........
This is the earliest post I could find. There may be earlier ones, but I got tired of searching.
I regret it took me so long to decide. I didnt commit to vote for Donald Trump until after a couple of debates.
Im pretty upset about it and that I was briefly taken by Foam Boy Rubio."
I'm with you, except I voted for Cruz in the primary. Except for the wall, I couldn't be any happier.
