If you mostly do resistance/weight training, then your muscles need a combo of carbs and certain amino acids, specifically L-Leucine and L-Isoleucine, both of which are found in quality whey protein isolate powder. For carbs you are best with maltodextrin. there are numerous “recovery drinks” out there that do the job. Drinking gatorade (sugar water) or chocolate milk is just silly, and doesn’t give your muscles what they need to grow and avoid soreness.
