First Lady Melania Trump is set to meet Britains Queen this week as she and her husband, President Donald Trump, visit the U.K.
During the visit, President Trump is to meet with British Prime Minister Theresa May, holding a joint press conference at Chequers on Friday, while the first lady will accompany her husband to dinner at Blenheim palace on Thursday and then for an audience with the Queen on Friday.(snip)
Trump and Melania will then join the Queen inside the castle for tea, although the palace did not comment on whether they would be joined by the Queens husband Prince Philip, who has been absent from a number of events recently.
The Queen has met 11 of the past 12 serving U.S. presidents, with the exception of Lyndon B. Johnson. She met former president Barack Obama on several occasions, one that notably saw former First Lady Michelle Obama put her arm round the Queen in 2009, in a friendly gesture that broke with protocol.
The hug took place at a reception at Buckingham Palace for the G20, with Michelle Obama and the Queen having met earlier in the day and exchanging gifts. Footage from the event shows the pair appeared to have struck up something of a friendship as Michelle put her arm around the Queen, who reciprocated with the same gesture.
But following in the footsteps of former First Lady Michelle Obama, will Melania break with protocol and risk giving the queen a friendly embrace?
Melania may or may not break with tradition, having done both on past occasions; donning a black outfit and veil for a meeting with the Pope in 2017 but opting not to cover her hair during a visit to Saudi Arabia.

Ah yes, Saudi Arabia...
*ping*
Melania does not violate protocol. She's very cautious while at the same time being herself. She was taught very well.
Beautiful inside and out.
“...former First Lady Michelle Obama put her arm round the Queen in 2009, in a friendly gesture that broke with protocol”
Because she fancies herself a queen, on the same level as Elizabeth. I’m sure it never occurred to her for a moment to demur, or to not do what she wanted to do.
I was a member a few Honor Guards and the Queen always stopped and talked to me ,scary
That was a handsome gown. I look good in that color: it sets off my white hair.
I agree. Melania is reserved and will not encroach beyond what Queen Elizabeth chooses.
Melania has far too much Class and Respect for Protocol to even come close to the Queen. She will curtsy and be ultra respectful of the Queen. No more Moose FLOTUS. We now have CLASS in the White House.
Uh, Jackie Kennedy wore a floor length black gown and black mantilla when she met Pope John XXIII in 1962. I guess only Democrats can do that.
No. she will not hug the Queen because the Queen doesn’t offer hugs to anyone but her family.
The queen should ASK Mrs Trump for a hug!
Elegant and beautiful. So proud I am She is our First Lady.
Ok, no fan of Michelle, but we are Americans. Monarchies are not superior to any American.
We whined when Obama observed “protocol” and “tradition” when bowing to other world leaders. We are American, we do not bow to anyone.
So, while hugging the Queen may have broken protocol, I don’t really give a flip.
Another Ping to First Lady Melania's List.
The sure have been a lot of nuns all dressed in black from head to toe meeting with the popes over the years. I think that black is respectable.
No. Melania has class, something the mooch lacked.
Lol I agree but it won’t happen. But it would be really neat if it happened.
And wee barry bowing, BOWING OVERTLY LOW, to lots of "World Leaders", and apologizing for America and how TERRIBLE we always have been, was far worse than ANYTHING that President Trump has EVER said...in public or in private!
BS it is a sign of disrespect. We are not beholden to any Monarchy. We fought a war to ensure that.
