With over 37 million residents, Greater Tokyo is the most populous metro area in the world today. Urban growth is not unique to Japan. By 2030, the United Nations predicts that the world will have 43 megacities, defined as metro areas with more than 10 million people. Most of them will be in developing regions in the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.
The UN recently released its annual World Urbanization Prospects, which estimates which metro areas will have the highest populations by 2030.
On World Population Day this Wednesday, let's take a look at the top 13:

Did not see Ashwaubenon. What happened?
UN Agenda 2030 wants to reduce the world population by 85% while Ted Tuner wants 95%. Hard to conciliate.
Weren’t we told Japan is dying?
#1 Delhi India!
Ever see CBS Amazing Race travel there or anywhere in India ? Overcrowding nightmare and cows.
Well I know how Ted Turner can make a little bit of difference to achieve his goal...
But the arrogant, selfish Left always wants OTHER people to die.
Hey, those cows are sacred!
Ever watch the series “Outsourced” it was on for a season on CBS or NBC, got cancelled because the executives thought it was insulting to Indians. Anyways it is about an American white male relocating from the US to India to manage a call center for an American Novelty company. It is a hilarious series.
Article states :
The NY metro area includes New York City, Long Island, and the Mid and Lower Hudson Valley in New York state; Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, and Edison in New Jersey; and Bridgeport, New Haven, Stamford, Waterbury, Norwalk, and Danbury in Connecticut.
I work in Danbury, CT and in no way would I consider myself part of Greater New York City. Makes me question the entire article. Waterbury, CT is 100 miles away. 100 MILES and they include ALL of Long Island. Give me a break
Consider yourself lucky as well, that DeBlasio doesn't run the "Greater New York City" Region.
If you look closer you will see the Tokyo population is shrinking from its 2015 number.
What blows me away is both Tokyo and Greater Delhi (New Delhi) are both larger in population than all of California which practically feels like wall to wall people. They must be stacked on top of each other very high up. I just can't imagine living like that after living in a rural setting for so long now. It would drive me to jump off one of those skyscrapers I think with all the noise, smells, and close proximity of so many human bodies.
Yes I did.
You would think some virus will spread in India due to the water, sanitation etc and wipe millions out.
Ever see their public “facilities” **shudder**
pffft! Before 2030 rolls around many cities on that list will just as likely be smoldering ruins.
I think , technically, government definitions of metro areas pull in big pieces of southwestern Connecticut as part of the NY Metro area. I’m.not sure what the criteria are to determine where those boundaries are.
They estimate in about 20 years that Dallas-Fort Worth will only be behind New York and Los Angeles in population.
It’s growing like crazy here.
And I live more than 1500 miles from any of them!
An acquaintance of mine lives in Harriman Heights, NY, near Newburgh. The writer would include this as part of greater New York City, since Times Square is about 60 miles away. But although many commuters to the City live there, it is really part of Small Town America.
I’ve heard that by 2030 San Franshitco’s population will be down 27,000.
...Did not see Ashwaubenon. What happened?...
Didn’t see Cut and Shoot, Texas or Dime Box, Texas either.
The quickest and most cost effective way for a government to achieve that is the Stalin/Mao method. Mass starvation.
11/18 is Jersey City, until Liberty Park was built.
Near The Godfather “Leave the gun, take the cannolis”
Who let this happen?
