The perpetrator was a judgmental bully, and did commit a crime to those kids, out without parents (reasonable, at 14 at an ice cream store!).

However, the first half of this article was greatly overwritten, filled with all manner of descriptions, many prosaic, most peripheral.
I had to swim and skim through the first half, as I wanted to know how it all ended.
I wish the owner of The Red Hen had gotten even a fraction of this treatment.
