Wasn't that the point of going after him? And, if the dealings that they indicted Manafort on, are as old as some have said, then I'm thinking this could be a slam dunk for the defense.

If what Manafort did was commonplace for the creatures of DC and no one else was ever held to those standards, isn't that the foundation for an affirmative defense? If the Podesta's did the same thing, or more, and they weren't prosecuted, why does he? If the Podesta's were allowed to retroactively document what they did, why can't he?

If these stories are true, about Mueller getting more DOJ lawyers to "help" with the cases, going forward, couldn't it mean that he knows this dog is riddled with fleas and he can try and let some junior DOJ lawyer take the hit when these cases blow up in their faces?

I do NOT think a defense can be mounted saying Manafort is no dirtier than Podesta. That’s a kindergarten approach. It is the same “No Jaywalking” sign for both of them.
