Special counsel Robert Mueller said in a court filing Friday that his prosecutors will not present evidence regarding Trump campaign collusion with Russia at an upcoming trial for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort.
The government does not intend to present at trial evidence or argument concerning collusion with the Russian government, reads a filing submitted by Muellers team in federal court in Virginia on Friday.

If Manafort is intimidated into giving false but incrminating information where is the profit to Mueller in that? It will blow up in his face big time, even as Manafort goes to prison for the coerced perjury-lying to federal investigators.
Not point. Pretext.
If Manafort gave incriminating information on Trump, false or otherwise, Mueller would reward him. That's the carrot part of the deal.
