Because guys who are innocent hunters just trying to get a little game don’t carry silenced big game rifles.

First of all this is a pay to hunt reserve, not a sanctuary for "endangered" species.

As long as one can pay they are welcome to hunt rhinos.

"Big game rifles" and "silencer" are meanigless.

100 yr old 1903 Springfield s or .303 Enfields are considered "big game rifles".

A "silencer" could be something whipped up in the garage out of an exhaust pipe, an oil filter or a 2 liter pop bottle.

The article implies that the hunters were going to poach a rhino and cut off the horns leaving the meat.

Pure speculation.

Maybe they were there for meat because the area outside the reserve was barren of game.

Maybe they were there to poach a rhino and cut off the horns to sell...for money to buy food or pay for medical care for a sick child.

This sounds more like Robin Hood poaching the King's deer.

Would you really take satisfaction in their deaths if that were the case?
