More
Oxygen level declined to 13% at last report. Criticality level is 12%. Rescue teams underway. They have put up screens covering the cave entrance to the makeshift medical tent and helicopters to ferry them to the hospital. The rain has started. #Thamluangcave

Many news reports the past few days have said that there are divers with the boys that are teaching them the basics. So, there might be some divers with the boys now whose rescue of a boy would last six hours. Then the divers starting from the entrance would have the six hours into the cave and then six hours back.

Maybe we’ll get some details if the expected press conference actually takes place.

Just for the trained rescuers I think it took 6 hours one way. So yeah - getting a bunch of kids that don’t know how to swim out....

Prayers up for all of them.

There was one person trapped that knows English. He is a “boy without a country” - is from Mynamar and goes to a Christian school in Thailand. But he is from a part of Mynamar that is some rebelious area and so no passport or anything. He fled the violence. He knows something like 4 languages! His teachers were saying what a nice, polite boy he is.

Pretty interesting story. All of those trapped have a story - I hope things go well for them!!

It also brings to mind the rescue of the Chilean miners in 2010 (another successful rescue). The technology and assistance from America certainly strained the buttons on my vest :-) The moment was filled with pride (it helped to remember this patriotic moment, considering who had just taken office not long before).

I’m just amazed by the entire event. One Thai SEAL has already given his life.

Miracles happen. Every day. Praying these boys and their rescuers have one.

Maybe that’s it....five hours in the water.

A few viewers have said that coach should be rescued last.

I would hope that coach would offer that, on his own.

It is weather and as such does not confirm strictly to a schedule. BBC reports that the Indian Ocean is producing systems. The cave is already flooded, and today there was significant rainfall. The general concensus is the the monsoon season has arrived. The heaviest rainfall is usually in August/September.

That looks like the same link I am watching, that was posted in post #2.

I did not hear this guy/anchor say that the boys would not make it out alive.

According to The Guardian....another 10 members of the rescue team were injured, on Sat.

They were on mountain, looking for ways to get into the cave.

Their car fell off of a cliff. Only one person was seriously hurt.

Good grief!!

“A few viewers have said that coach should be rescued last.”

I agree, but not out of meanness———no child should be the last one left with a rescuer that he would consider to be a stranger.

The last child should have the coach there to see him off.

Car carrying 10 people who were to look for chimneys crashed & fell off cliff, probably not seriously injured though.

Maybe that’s it....five hours in the water.

No one seems to mention this for whatever reason, but the diagrams of the cave show three or four dry areas out of the water. Presumably they would be used as brief rest areas.
