An African-American millionaire and his Manhattan consultant son were victims of a July 4th hate crime in their hotel room during a Florida vacation.
A racist creep apparently snuck into Frank and Michael Davis room at the upscale Art Ovation Hotel in Sarasota and left a 2-by-5 post-it note reading, Youre a N-R.
After returning to their sixth-floor room from breakfast, the Davises found the sickening message placed on a globe-shaped bedside lamp.
I was stone cold for 30 to 40 seconds when I read the note, Michael Davis, 27, a consultant for a financial firm, told The Post.
My first thought was, what did we do to deserve this? We tipped well, we were beyond nice to all the staff.
Fearing for their lives, Michael and his parents called the police and the front desk. The Sarasota Police Department responded, but no suspects have been named.
The incident was especially wounding in light of Frank Davis lifelong efforts to promote diversity. The business executive has donated $5 million to his alma mater, Bucknell University, for a new building and for minority recruitment.

Get real. Even if legit, it ain’t front page news. It’s a racial slur, not a death threat.
Yeah, if I were him I’d be angry - so what?. Get over it and get going. This is not an earth shaking event. To read this crap, you’d think it was a prelude to genocide.
If this really is how it went down, what would give them the idea it was someone other than housekeeping?
I wonder if they wrote “you’re” or “your”.
“Its a racial slur, not a death threat.”

Exactly, and involving the police is a waste of taxpayer money.
.
this is a nothing burger....I can understand complaining to the hotel but why is it in the media. this could be just the fact that he is a lousy tipper and the staff has a lousy racist that got stiffed on a tip. there was no threat just name calling. My guess is the staff has an idea of who it is but how is it news worthy. people get treated shabbily by hotel staff happens all the time. This should of gone no further then a review on Yelp.
None-the-less, this story is NOT for real!
Thats a keeper!
Unless they were staying in a Motel 6 they should have checked the cameras and discovered who put the note there. Thinking hoax.
There have been thousands of these hoaxes over the last 20 years, this one smells rancid to me.
Almost all hotels have electronic card entry systems that track the exact times rooms are accessed and by which cards. These “guests” were away for a short, indefinite time period (”breakfast”). If a racist moron left the note, he/she would have to be capable of:
1) accessing the room undetected;
2) being on scene unnoticed at the precise moment the Davis duo decided to go out.
3) abbreviating “You are” as “You’re” rather than Yure, your, etc., the typical usage of illiterates.
Diagnosis: Hoax, almost certainly by the son, who wants to be relevant like daddy.
Speculation: Hotel management knew it was a hoax, and subtly offered to let them walk rather than “pursue the matter”, getting rid of race grifters for the cost of some Room Points, leaving the hotel to rent the room to a paying customer.
Random thought: Odd that the note says “You’re a ” in the singular when there were two men. Almost as if one wrote the note for the other to find.
I ALWAYS default to hoax...unless there’s absolute proof otherwise.
“The business executive has donated $5 million to his alma mater, Bucknell University, for a new building and for minority recruitment.”
Well, there ya go! Your Alma Mater KNOWS you’re worth well more than a $5 Million ‘token’ contribution.
No good deed goes unpunished. Sucker. ;)
