CHICAGO (WLS) -- A Chicago-area man who was the alleged ringleader in the beating of a mentally disabled teenager that was livestreamed on Facebook has pleaded guilty to a hate crime and sentenced to eight years in prison.
The Chicago Tribune reports 20-year-old Jordan Hill of Carpentersville became the third of the four defendants to admit taking part in the attack when he entered the plea in a Cook County courtroom Thursday. He also pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping.
The January 2017 incident received national attention because it involved a white victim and four African-Americans who taunted the bound-and-gagged teen with profanities against white people.
Prosecutors say Hill - a friend of the 18-year-old victim - took the teen to a Chicago apartment where the attack took place.
Prosecutors said the alleged actions began under the guise of a sleepover with one Hill on New Year's Eve. His family became concerned when they lost contact two days later. According to prosecutors, Hill beat the victim in a van and brought him to an apartment on Chicago's West Side when the torment continued.
"A male shoves the victim's face into a toilet bowl and the victim is told to drink toilet water. The victim is punched in the head. The victim is screaming 'no' in fear when the male walks over to him with a knife and states, 'Should I shank his a**?' Also heard on the video multiple times is a male voice threatening to kill the victim," said Asst. State's Attorney Erin Antonietti.
Police said his beating and torture went on for hours. The disturbing video, which was viewed by people across the country, has been removed from Facebook.

You only deal when you think there is not sufficient evidence for a slam dunk conviction. In my county there would have been no plea deal at all. Maybe in Chicago they could find some white hating racist to hang a jury but even then they should have tried these monsters and put them away for life.

And the time of the occurrence the media and chief of police really tried to downplay the incident.
As much as it pains me to say so, when Clinton proclaimed that we were breeding a whole new brand of super predator among our inner city "youths" (substituting "teens" is also acceptable), he was absolutely correct.
Raised by single women who rail about how useless men are, they develop no sympathy, no sense of the dignity, much less the value, of each human life, and become soulless killers by their mid-to-late teens.
All their influences, from rap to movies to Grand Theft Auto, normalize gunplay and mass slaughter. They become so desensitized to these verbal and literal images of killing people that the very idea seems societally glorified. With no father figure to teach them right from wrong, they end up without that piece in their toolbox.
Thank goodness, too... I was beginning to worry that I might not need all this ammo.

Abu Ghraib was the Bush-era manufactured liberal outrage. Today it’s separation of families by ICE. People fall for such stupid propaganda campaigns, and our side always accepts them.
Agreed, but my point was that torture convictions don't draw very much prison time in our courts. This guy got eight years, Lynndie England only got three.
I fear we are going to need death squads if the law keeps up this perversion.
