Facebook removed an excerpt from the U.S. Declaration of Independence, claiming the text violated the social network’s policies on “hate speech.” The Liberty County Vindicator had been uploading the Declaration of Independence in parts to their Facebook page, only for the tenth part to be removed by the social network.
Though the newspaper is unsure why the text was removed, they presumed it was due to the Declaration of Independence’s use of the term “merciless Indian Savages.”
Following complaints, Facebook reinstated the post, declaring in an email, “It looks like we made a mistake and removed something you posted on Facebook that didn’t go against our Community Standards. We want to apologize and let you know that we’ve restored your content and removed any blocks on your account related to this incorrect action.”
Facebook also recently shut down a support group for veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, claiming the page violated their “community guidelines.”

I think Fakebook peaked out last year. I would predict a 10-percent quitting trend each year for the next five years, and they end up being bought by someone else by 2025.

Most American Indians would probably enjoy the phrase “merciless Indian Savages” and refer to one another with that language for jest.
It was an accurate description of what they had been dealing with. Before us they were savages to each other. they like to say they all got along but they sure as hell did not and their own histories remember it.
So Facebook is now saying the Indians ARE merciless savages? They’re racists!

Many leftist prongs would have no problem banning the DOI. To them it's a fascist, white, patriarchal, theocratic manifesto.

We watched 1776 this week and, as always, we were amused by the scene in which the delegates fight over the document, managing to take out bits and pieces of it for trivial and devastating reasons. But Facebook is no Edward Rutledge!
If you didn’t know “merciless Indian Savages” was contained in the Declaration, you need to read the document. We all do.
Every Independence Day, I ask friends and acquaintances to sit down and actually read the Declaration of Independence, in its entirety. It doesn’t take long and it is truly eye-opening.
The Founders really dropped a nuke on King George III by submitting this inflammatory document and one can easily imagine His Majesty’s Royal Head exploding at the incredible cheek shown by his own subjects. One can also see how every Signer of the Declaration also signed, knowingly, his own death warrant at the same time.
My great... grandparents were killed by the “merciless savages” and their house was set on fire. The daughters hid under the trundle bed during the murders and escaped the burning house.
I’ve been known to show a little mercy here or there but yeah, pretty much apply my savagery in a merciless manner.
