Do mice get prostate cancer? I, and one in six older men, wonder?

What were the “two immune-stimulating agents”?
To: rdl6989
Thanks. So far, apparent remission through radiation. But you never know how long that lasts. Five years? Ten? Twenty?

An announcement like this from Stanford is potentially important. In the world of medical research Standford, along with Harvard,Columbia,Hopkins and Mayo Clinic,is very definitely “the big time”.

Unless the immune system enhancement can be strictly limited to targeting cancer, this doesn’t seem helpful to those who must take immunosuppressants.

And in 300 years the government approves it.

And in 300 years the government approves it. It only takes a few decades to get a drug through the approval process.
I want to see the details of this. There are so many diseases grouped as "cancer"... it would be awesome if even a few of them could be cured like this.
On the other hand, this treatment has cured cancer in mice. I remember a professor saying, 20 years ago, that if the goal of research is to cure cancer in mice, we've already reached that goal.

Either it’s reprogramming the T-cells or a combo of “demasking” the cancer cell while inhibiting its anti T-cell barrier(s).

My question exactly. Immune stimulating can refer to good things to empower the immune system, the biome of bacteria working within us, or it can be some agent a la vaccine adjuvants, that stress the immune system and lead to short term gain, long term harm (something medicine looooooooves).

Having watched helplessly whilst my wife died of melanoma, and now having a dear friend afflicted with the same devil disease, I am praying this works.

Remember, our Great President signed the bill allowing those who are badly afflicted to get experimental treatment if they desire..

I’ve heard that pretty much all men will develop prostate cancer if they manage to live long enough. Hope yours stays in remission.

Interesting but if I had a penny for every FR thread reporting a major breakthrough in cancer treatment...
