octopus - who correctly predicted every outcome of Japan's World Cup group matches - ... eaten

FULL TITLE: The one result he didn't see coming: Rabiot the octopus - who correctly predicted every outcome of Japan's World Cup group matches - is chopped up and eaten before knockout stages

An octopus who had predicted all three of Japan's group stage results at the World Cup has been turned into seafood.

Rabiot, a giant Pacific octopus, correctly tipped the result of Japan's games against Colombia, Poland and Senegal, but will not have the chance to predict the team's results in the knockout stages.

Despite his 100 per cent record so far Rabiot, who was caught in Obira, Hokkaido, was gutted and sent to the market to be sold for food, Sora News 24 reported.   Rabiot followed the lead of his psychic predecessor Paul the Octopus, who became an unexpected star of the 2010 World Cup with a series of correct calls.

LOL, I love that joke...I told it to an animal rights person I used to work with, and how she glared at me!

Back in the 70s I worked with a guy who met his wife in Japan during the Korean War. They used to go fishing in the Gulf just about every weekend.

They would often catch small Octopi which she loved. One day I was visiting them and they asked me to stay for lunch. One of the items was Southern Fried Chicken which tasted pretty much like my Mother used to make.

The big difference was she had taken out all the bones.

This gif doesn’t dhow it, but the cat won. Quite simply.

It would have eaten it if the human hadn’t intervened.

I prefer squid. Calimari Fra diavo over linguine.

It does not have a brain big enough to have an idea about anything

Captain Nemo might disagree with you.

Octopi are as smart as a dog if not more so but as for prophesy they make ugly little oracles.

I'm sure...hungry cat vs. small octopus is not going to be much of a match unless it is one of those Blue Ringed octopus critters...:)

Old saying from the Sea of Japan, “Sometimes the octopus eats you, sometimes you eat the octopus!”

Octopi would have inherited the earth with their intelligence, but they don’t live long enough to teach their young.

They don’t live very long ... 2 - 3 years
Might as well eat it, doubt it if it changes any outcome of any game of chance or if it cared that it was consumed upon reaching Ocean Temperature.
Octopus are really amazing creatures and they taste really good!

*** “That said, the Koreans and Italians cook octopus better” ***
Best Octopus I ever had was in Lorraine, France.
Heck... Best Bread and Butter I have ever tasted was in Lorraine, France.
Breakfast there was AMAZING and I am talking about a French Military Chow Hall (I would get up Very Early to be there when they opened)
