I have also hunted, nothing larger than small game, and in some cases I have eaten what I have hunted. Dove, squirrel, rabbit.
But any animal greater than a deer, my imaginary line, I suppose, I am neither interested in or respectful of killing when it does not need or require killing for a specific reason.
I understand that culling is sometimes required, and I’m okay with that, but I am not okay with trophy hunting. I would rather the animal spirit remain in its vessel.
I Agree
“I would rather the animal spirit remain in its vessel.”
Managed harvest brings about healthier herds that are less likely to be ravaged by wasting disease and other contagious problems. That way more animals get to keep their animal spirit longer.
You clearly did not read the article. That animal emptied three other “vessels” this season alone.
Hint, she did not mail back a ton of frozen meat.
Another hint, it is nowhere as easy or as risk free as you have assumed.

Recall that this hunter said she got 2000 lb (1 TON!) of meat off of the giraffe. That's a lot of trips to the grocery store.
I know of no greater luxury than giraffe marrow, unless it is elephant's heart, and we had that on the morrow. --H. Rider Haggard, King Solomon's Mines
based on the article...it WAS culling.
Youve never had elk. Good eats. So is Bear. We ate everything we hunted
I’m sure the tag cost a lot of $$$$, which will be reapplied to help fund conservation.
Then you're not okay with freedom. Just because you wouldn't do something doesn't mean someone else is a bad person because they choose to do it.
Didn't Teddy Roosevelt do a significant amount of "trophy hunting"?
If I kill something, I'm certainly going to eat the meat. So my only question is "what does giraffe meat taste like?"
If lions hunt giraffes, then why can't humans?
