OK, I've had it with Facebook. I've been on there for a year or so, only because of my kids and grandkids, and a few, close, personal friends. My total number of "Friends" on there is only 54, (and a few of those need to go).

Now - in order to get their hooks into more people - you only get to read the "News Feed" IF, you add "more friends". They've blocked me at only one post I can read, until I add more friends.

I refuse. I've got the friends I want, and that's all I want. It's not a "popularity contest" to me, it's communications.

Therefore, I'm thinking about bowing out of FB. The only thing is, I need to post to my friends where they can reach me...does anyone know of a FB-like site that I can re-locate to?

Suggestions appreciated, and sorry about the vanity - I don't do it very often...only a handful of times in I joined FR in 1998.

I post on FB, but I only post pictures of my dogs, and I only look at pictures of dogs. I do not read news on FB at all.

I have about 10 friends only, and I ain’t looking for more, they are all people I know and have met in reality.

I never added any friends, though I get plenty of friend requests, mostly from people I never heard of, BUT have no problems on Facebook at all.

Your real issue might be something else, not the lack of adding friends. Check with facebook to try to find out what their real problem is with you.

Never have understood the need for "----book" at all! Why not just make a list of "friends" in address book, exchange emails, and share info? Why let a wannabe billionaire use your friendships in order to fill his/her coffers?

Well, the “news feed” is not really about the “news”, it’s where all your friends’ posts are displayed so you won’t have to go to each of their “walls” to read what’s new.

I get all my “news, news” here on FR.

I’ve had that happen to me a couple of times over the past year and all I did was either click on the Home button at the top or quit and restart my browser and the problem went away.

Never joined Facebook or Twitter, or any of the other social media sites. This is the only site I need if I want to interact with people. If I want to talk to my kids or any of my very small number of long-time friends and family, I’ll call them or email them, and they’ll do the same with me. I think I had my fill of being social when AOL came into existence. After 3-4 years I got sick of it, and ended my membership. Never bought into the MySpace, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. BS.

Again (I hate to have to re-write and re-explain my original post), I ONLY USE FACEBOOK FOR MY KIDS, GRANDKIDS, AND CLOSE PERSONAL AND LIFE LONG FRIENDS.

None of these people have “fake” identities, I know them all. I NEVER add as a friend people I don’t know, and refuse to add some that I know.

I’ve never had over 55 friends on there...the “friends race” is not a game I play.

I hope, to hell, that clarifies it for you.

Oh I usually see all that stuff by clicking “Home”, but yeah I see that has me on the Newsfeed tab, which I never even noticed before lol.

But even with my limited number of friends, I don’t think I have ever been limited to how many posts I can see, at least not that I am aware of.

I use facebook many times for different reasons. I have 3 rental properties and FB is a gold mine for potential renters. It also gives you an idea what kind of person they are, also a good place to buy and sell. Found two great rental properties that I obtained very cheap. Also a good place to find out what is going on in the area.Also belong to several groups and even though retired I like to keep up with what is going on in my old industry so I get to find out who’s hiring and in what area. And last but not least I get to see recent pics of all the grand kids.

Only reason I am on FB is because of family and friends who live out of state.

I’ve enjoyed Facebook. My feed is largely about the old mining town I was born, raised and worked in. The posted photos go back as far as 1907 with photos of an adjacent mine going back as far as 1885. My town is temporarily a semi ghost town which will pick up again when a deeper mine is opened fairly soon. The photos include a lot of people from my childhood. It’s interesting to me and not at all political.

Check out Me-We. Nice alternative to Fakebook, they explicitly state they do NOT spy or collect your information (yeah, right...) their interface is pretty nice, easy to use and not cluttered with left-wing Mark Suckerberg propaganda.

I have been on FB for years. That is how I keep up with family and school friends from the 1950’s. I also belong to several groups which have pictures of Cades Cove, Yellowstone, WY, MT, etc. I really enjoyed the snow scenes from Cade’s Cove. I also belong to several castle groups. Eileen Donan is one built by ancestors. My grandson went there a few years ago but was more impressed by the Lamborghini in the parking lot. FB is what the user makes it. If I get a post I am not interested in, I hide it.

I use FB and Instagram as a way to keep up with my children and grandchildren via photos and videos. I’m asking for a cloud picture frame for Christmas so they can upload pics directly to the frame and I can delete FB and Instagram.
