Two leaders of a fundamentalist group who between them have 29 wives and 160 children were sentenced to house arrest on Tuesday after being convicted of polygamy.
Winston Blackmore, 61, was found guilty last year of having 24 wives while James Oler, 53, was found guilty of having five wives. Blackmore has 149 kids, the Star Vancouver reported.
Blackmore's six-month conditional sentence, to be served under house arrest, allows him to go to work and deal with medical emergencies. Oler's term is three months of house arrest. Both face 12 months of probation. Blackmore was also ordered to perform 150 hours of community service work, while Oler must do 75 hours.

I have to wonder what man would WANT 24 wives? That’s like owning a cattle ranch because you like steak.
I’ve heard the same about Mormon polygamists in the US. I assume any type of polygamist group factors this into their finances.
Right. Like having 29 wives and 160 kids isn’t punishment enough.
Could you imagine having 29 Joy Behars screeching their way around the compound? Yeesh.
Haha. That would be scary.
I think these guys got just a wee bit mixed up about what "One A Day" means!
Here is a video of his kids and grandchildren talking about it. I do have to say that the kids seem pretty happy, intelligent, and taken care of. I was surprised about that. Although I am not supporting polygamy.

It is Canada.
Well it seems like I once heard of a guy that had a few hundred wives and hundred porcupines. That sounds a lot more dangerous.
House arrest? So they can breed some more?
We Might Want to Reconsider Polygamy (Opinion)

If same sex marriage is legal, why not polygamy?
Shouldn't the wives - as far as they have reached the age of majority and/or consent, and were cognizant of the other "marriages" - also be arrested? After all, they are complicit in the polygamy.
Regards,
Are you only enough to remember the Harry Mudd episode from the original Star Trek? If not, google it. Priceless!
Where is the story from ?
It is a rough life for sons of these men. Their fathers marry the best young women and younger men must marry whom their fathers command them to, or are left batchelors or must move away.
They’d have to have at least 4 school buses just to take the family to McDonald’s.
I think they live in Vancouver. Drudge posted it last night.
Where do they all live?
They probably wanted jail time so they could have some peace.
