For those conservatives who voted for Donald Trump because of the Supreme Court, congratulations: You've been vindicated.
Had Hillary Clinton won the 2016 election, she would have replaced the late conservative Justice Antonin Scalia with a liberal jurist -- giving the Supreme Court a left-wing activist majority for a generation. Because Trump won, Neil M. Gorsuch was confirmed to replace Scalia, securing the court's 5-to-4 conservative majority.
This week, the dividends of that appointment for conservatives were apparent in two landmark conservative rulings. In National Institute of Family Life Advocates v. Becerra, the high court ruled that the state of California cannot force crisis pregnancy centers to advertise access to abortion to their clients, in violation of the owners' conscience. And in Janus v. AFSCME, the court ruled that public workers cannot be forced pay union dues to support public policies with which they fundamentally disagree. These were critical 5-to-4 rulings that buttressed the First Amendment freedoms of all Americans.

Marc forgot the Bake a Cake Fag issue which is also a major win plus the no travel ban for potential 9/11 killers.
Hillary would have installed all nine, and then gotten Congress to increase the size of the court by reviving FDR’s court-packing plan, and then she would have appointed more commies.
Any that she didn’t like would have been killed off, one by one.
In fact, everyone thought she would win. What do you suppose happened to Scalia?
Chief Justice John Roberts, age 63, leans conservative but unreliable.
Anthony Kennedy, age 81, swing vote,
- Trump replacement coming soon.
Clarence Thomas, age 70, reliable conservative talking retirement.
- Trump replacement likely.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg, age 85,
- likely to be replaced by Trump when someone notices that she has died (which may take a while!).
Stephen Breyer, age 79,
- likely to be replaced by Trump.
Samuel Alito, age 68, reliable conservative, could last another decade or more, but it wouldn’t hurt to replace him while President Trump is on a roll.
Sonia Sotomayor, age 64, far-left fringe voting “Wise Latina”, but a serious diabetic.
- Trump replacement possible.
Elena Kagan, age 58, far-left fringe voting but apparently healthy.
Neil Gorsuch, age 50, reliable conservative Trump nominee.
I would love to see a reliable Supreme Court that believes in the rule of law by 8:1 - with a sad, lonely Elana Kagan mumbling to herself as she watches President Trump’s nominees restoring the Constitution.
BS
The court was 4-1-4.
Kennedy was an outlier who could go either way.
Alito is a very solid reliable constitutionalist vote who is good for another 15 years.
Remember those disasters like Sandra day O’Conner who were appointed by R presidents, and turned out to be liberals?
Leave Alito there as long as possible.
Alito is 68. He will be 74 when President Trump leaves office. I’m not willing to bet on him outlasting an 8-year socialist after Trump. Obviously we don’t want him replaced yet, but it might be prudent for him to retire in 4-5 years.
lol
Mark theisson a POS never Trumper.
Isn’t Thiessen a Never Trumper? If so, he’s another johnny-come-lately to the party we’ve been celebrating for the past 18 months or so.
IOW, we deplorables are smarter than the intelligentsia (or what passes for it) that hover above the buzzing DC media circles.
I wanna see Trump replace all of the Bush/Obama justices, then at the very end of his second term, nominate Merrick Garland just for fun.
Assuming Trump selects another Gorsuch-type, Chief Justice John Roberts becomes the new swing voter replacing Kennedy.
We need to play this justice opportunity right so it is ironclad for decades. It can be done if POTUS is slick about it and the conservative justices agree. Screw the left. Clinton would have packed the court and we would never see a conservative majority again.
Gorsuch is 50? I did not know that. May he live to be a 100.
Agreed. He’s protecting freedom.
If we set the LEFT back 100 years, we would be back where we started. At least, we are headed in the right direction.
“What do you suppose happened to Scalia?”
Well, there’s interesting email correspondence between Chelsea and Hillary released by Wikileaks concerning that very thing. I believe the times and date are concerning. I don’t think we have to ask what happened to Scalia.
