The oft-repeated story is that a naked human wouldn’t last fifteen minutes on the tundra. I doubt there’s any research backing it up, but I tend to believe it.

If you see mosquitos, you won’t see the no-see-ums and white socks, but they will drive you mad. One guy left his window cracked while sleeping and was sent back to be hospitalized. Another kid had to be emergency airlifted back to Anchorage because he got blood poisoning trying to dig at a white sock bite on his arm. Blood poisoning actually looks exactly like they say: bright red lines traveling up the veins. The poisoning was halfway up his bicep the last I saw him! The bug stories really vie with fish and bears. LOL
