One reason GM wants to build it in Mexico is because Chinese parts can be imported into Mexico without tariffs. It's an end run around President Trump. So not only are American workers getting screwed by GM assembling the vehicle in Mexico, most of the parts to build it will come from China.

Most Americans don't realize that there is a whole lot more to building a car than what happens in the assembly plant. Most autoworkers have never set foot in an assembly plant. They work in making the stuff that cars are made of: wheels, brakes, alternators, fuel pumps, injectors, head lamps, and on and on.
