BARDSTOWN, Ky.
A building collapse at the Barton 1792 distillery in Bardstown sent thousands of bourbon barrels crashing to the ground.
Bardstown fire officials said the collapse happened at Barton 1792 after 11 a.m. Friday.
Nelson County Emergency Management spokesman Milt Spalding said about 9,000 barrels of aging bourbon were affected.
The building houses about 20,000 barrels of aging bourbon.

Pretty impressive the strength of those barrels. And I’m guessing that getting them shook up a bit won’t harm things?
For some reason with all of the aging process, it seems like more of a waste for spilled bourbon than spilled beer. Have it sitting there for ten(?) years just waiting to get to market, and then ......

And in other news today, 1792 Barton announced it will release its new Smoked Bourbon line of whiskey. It will be a limited edition, the company says expect a run of 11,000 bottles.
Bottles = barrels.

That’s how you age a million dollars of bourbon ? Their insurance rates are going up.
