Once upon a time, women were demure and lady-like and minded their reputation. Of course, if a woman of that era wanted to take a shot, she would. Many did. But if a woman chose not to, she would explain to the unchivalrous man that he was rude and uncouth and that she would do no such thing. And that was the end of it. Or, if it wasn’t, a man would be found to serve as a guardian. A husband, father or brother who valued her and would protect her against cads.

But, since the dawning of Feminism, women are focused on their work in the marketplace. They reject the idea of anyone being their “protector”. They are on their own, and proudly so. And if their boss demands that they take a shot, well, what option to they have? They must, of course, do as the big strong man says. They have so much to lose. Standing on principle would be foolish indeed. Just do as you’re told Little Lady. You’re so liberated: take the shot and shut up.

That is pretty much what happens in Muslim countries. Do you want to undo the freedoms of the liberated western woman?
