LOL....sweet pic, at link, of boy hugging the statue.

Nothing malicious, just a hug.

Shame on this facility for not properly securing, or secluding, their valuables from the public....especially when allowing said facility to be used as a wedding reception venue.

The city must have insurance for these types of accidents.

"Shame on this facility for not properly securing, or secluding, their valuables from the public."

If this family were illegal aliens, they would be able to sue the City for the trauma the child suffered as the statue was destroyed.

Sounds like the liberals in charge failed to secure the statue properly.

If so they need their butts sued for allowing a dangerous condition to be there for any child.

My call on this is that the City was negligent and bears primary if not sole responsibility. I’d turn it over to my insurance company to haggle with them.

We used to have a nice artsy and expensive pot from New Mexico on a table in the living room. My then 2yo son picked up the pot, said “ball” then bounced the ball. Pottery doesn’t bounce. Pottery breaks in little pieces. It wasn’t the child’s fault but the parent’s fault (us) for insufficiently child proofing the room.

Obviously the Statute was not secure and in itself was
a potential hazard to children and if it had fell on
this child the City would be the one paying a heck of
lot more than 132 thousand. I don’t see how they can collect.

City is lucky no one got injured or they’d be the ones paying a lot more than $100k.

I'm torn on this one, We've all been in public places and seen how some kids behave.....In part, I fault the parents; FWIW, kids do some crazy stuff.
