Another one. The child was said not to have life threatening injuries, but it was also said that the dog held the child’s head in his mouth. Hopefully no skull fractures nerve or lobe damages occurred. Psychological damages to the child, the relative and the officer who was forced to kill the dog may not be visible for a long time, if ever.
I’m waiting for a congressman or senator bold enough to introduce a bill that will outlaw new ownership, breeding or sales of these dogs. I don’t care what party that public servant belongs to at that time. This is bigger than the party.

That would be the worst solution.
I’d rather see a pro-active scientific approach by the relevant societies and DVMs to voluntarily cull the problematic strands.

I killed a pit bull once. And a couple other breeds too, over the years. I lived on the family farm out in the sticks. People would drop them out there. They would mess with the cows and that was a death sentence for them. I lived too far out to rehome or take them to a shelter. I took them out. I have never once felt bad about it.

The child and the relative, maybe. About the officer, though, I doubt it. I've known ranchers, farmers, police and dog pound employees who killed many dogs with no mental problems from doing so.
Granted, many people are now rather different from many people in the past. We can tell by simply looking at them. Many people now would have been hired into side shows back then. Most people now wouldn't have been hired to do anything back then, after one boss had a look at some of the things they would say and do.
