From FR homepage:
Over 400,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic since inception in 1996 and our forum is read daily by over one hundred thousand freedom loving citizens and patriots from all around the country, and all around the world. We're currently delivering over twenty million pageviews per month to over one million monthly visitors. Oh, we're big stuff all right:
When the dirtbag pretty much said thatTrump voters had it coming after assorted union thugs, muslims, communists, and illegals attacked voters at Trump’s Chicago rally even many people who were Cruzers at the beginning of the campaign (myself among them) had pretty much had enough of not only Cruz himself...but anyone still willing to support him.
He was pretty clear and nobody merely misunderstood him.
It was and still is a fair cop.
LOL...your fellow FReepers TURNED on you as if you were one of their shark bretheren, with only a trace of your innards trailing behind you!
It makes me wonder, “Were did all these people go?”
I know some died, B^(.... and some did the OPUS thing, and some just disappeared................
I have a feeling you're about to find out...
Got me a soft ban for nearly a year. I know a lot that have left and not come back. Seems a shame to lose good conservative members
I would think if you had another IP address and email you could re-register. I don’t think you could do this from the same computer you had while posting under your old account. ???
How many unique members who actually post daily?
Im guessing its down over half from the halcyon days early 2000s
Man threads used to fly literally
Youd see a post and stop to reply and by the time you hit post there were 30-40 more posts on the thread
That doesnt happen anymore except on election night
Its too bad cause there is more competition I guess and I think were an aging demographic
On the good side were more conservative now especially culturally
The tone here used to be far far more PC
Hehehehe...”good times”....:)
“and some did the OPUS thing...”
What was OPUS?
We had mods like that here too back in the amnesty and Rudy civil wars here
I would assume that if they ban you then you're expected to take the hint and stay banned.
Just search keyword ‘opus’ and title ‘opus’ and ignore the Catholic posts that use the same word................
Of course it’s possible if you have multiple email addresses.
I have only ever created one account here, though.
Apache Records the IP address of all visitors, so that will weed out 80% of banned accounts that try to get back on with a new account.
FR has a beautiful memorial wall for FReepers who have passed.
Have to wonder how many FReepers have died and we don’t know.
Sad.
A lot have indeed died..no question

Correct. While people can change their IP address with VPN; their physical MAC address that connects a given device to the Internet does not change.
https://whatismyipaddress.com/mac-address
Using a different device and VPN or just a requested change in IP address by the IP provider would allow someone to register as someone new using a different username.
Your MAC address isn’t sent over the Internet.
I’ve done a lot of research on this concept. Turns out they are pretty limited, especially for those of us that use a cell phone hotspot as our primary doorway to the site. I change IP addresses and post from work and home.
I actually had one site ban me for a personal difference of opinion with a very spiteful site owner. he literally banned the IP at my entire company from getting in. I mean, you couldn’t even just go to the site. At all. From any computer here. It lasted about six months. In the meantime, a week after he banned me I created a new account from my home computer. But I don’t go there much (it is a vintage hi-fi site).
On one site I created a different account and the two accounts would talk to each other in real time. I did it by logging in via IE for one user and Firefox for the other. It was done “on a lark” and expected to be found out in a day. It took several months. I used completely different “language personality” for each. It was a very liberal site and eventually someone complained and the site owner did an IP check. The second one was banned.
A person could set up a dozen accounts here if they have a dozen email addresses, but it breaks the rules. I mention personal stories too much in my posts so it’s not a practical thing for me to do, even if I chose to do it.
But there is a reason I’m using my wife’s account. :)
