Good (and bad) movies come and go, but some films garner such a fierce, loyal following that they reach cult status. People watch them over and over and over again. They host parties to watch them some more. Midnight showings at movie theaters draw incredible crowds, and oftentimes, fans "act out" the scenes in front of the screen.
Actors who happened to have been in cult movies enjoy lifetimes of stardom (to one extent or another) and can probably make a living signing autographs at events and Comic-Con ad nauseam.
Are you a huge fan of any cult classic? Here are some favorites below. Weigh in with the ones you can't get enough of!
Freaks is THE strangest film ever made by a major studio during the Golden Era.
“one of us! one of us! one of us!”
I do not know what the big deal is about The Big Lebowski - was very stupid and sucked so I turned it off.
Support your local sheriff.
Support your local gunfighter.
The two headed man with Rosey Grier.
I’ll have to check out Valley of the Dolls. Concur.
and Uncle Rico !
Maybe that dachshund vs oxen Sprint commercial had some basis in fact...
I agree. The Stand was a very good adaptation.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers (OLDER VERSION)
I remember sitting through it thinking “this might be THE worst movie I’ve ever seen.” And then it redeems itself in the last 2 minutes and leaves you forever scarred. Whew!
And it was IMPOSSIBLE for me to disassociate the fiction/characters from the fact that Ian and Derek are homosexual.
Made me think of one, Eating with Rauel.
T2 was a rare film that could come along 20 years after the original and still be good. Ewan is great. He had a nice 2017 between T2 and Fargo. My only complaint was the lack of Kelly Macdonald. Most of her scenes were cut. In a way, Im glad Diane wasnt pulled down by Mark and his friends after the original film. But, shes fantastic. Film her reading the phone book and Ill watch it.
Night of the Living Dead
“The Big Lebowski - was very stupid and sucked so I turned it off.”
Well, that’s just YOUR OPINION, man . . .
(8 year olds . . .)
Reread my comment. Nicholson was the dental PATIENT. Don't remember who played the dentist, but it wasn't anyone very memorable, much like most of the cast.
Haha, you need to get a life.
American Graffiti.
But I may be biased.
Some more:
Tommy
Quadrophenia
Jesus Christ Superstar
Picnic at Hanging Rock
Both are awesome BUT if you’ve ever played music professionally they hit home hard on the funnybone because some of the really funny bits are spot on truth about being in a band.
