Skip lasers and get started on wave motion gun technology.

Actually, lasers are so 90s. I think the lion’s share of resources in this area is being used to develop particle beam weapons. They can’t be reflected or redirected.

How about phaser cannons or photon torpedoes?

Oh, they "have plans" of building a laser cannon. I have plans of building a strip club in my back yard that will attract the best talent and make me rich.
I haven't discussed this my Wife yet but I have a old camper in my yard so I'm basically there...

Skip all that simple stuff and begin researching displacement tech and go whole hog for CAM (concentrated anti-matter) dusting weapons. Make nuclear weapons look like children’s toys ...

Thanks Red Badger. Not too sure a visible-light laser can deliver much to target after atmospheric attenuation. If memory serves, Ed Teller's idea was to use X-ray lasers to knock out Soviet ICBMs as one idea he had for SDI -- the X-ray lasers would be in orbit, but would also violate existing treaties because they'd require nuclear explosions to lase (IOW, one use only; not sure how that would impact the targeting systems. /s).

Goldfinger and one of the Pink Panther movies thought of the idea of using giant lasers, too. I’d have to see it to believe it.
