A Honduran immigrant reportedly took his own life while in custody after his wife and child were separated from him at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Marco Antonio Muñoz, 29, killed himself in the cell of a Texas jail last month, according to the Starr County sheriff’s department incident report obtained by The Washington Post.
The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not publicly disclose the death, according to The Post. The Hill has reached out to DHS for comment. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Starr County authorities did not respond to The Washington Post’s requests for comment.
Muñoz’s death occurred just weeks after the Trump administration announced it would crack down on illegal border crossings by prosecuting more parents and separating them from their children at the border.
Border Patrol agents familiar with the situation told the Post that Muñoz, his wife and three-year-old son were taken into custody after crossing the border into the U.S. near Granjeno, Texas. One agent speaking to the paper on the condition of anonymity said that after the family said they wanted to apply for asylum, they were told they would be separated.
“The guy lost his s--t,” the agent told the Post. “They had to use physical force to take the child out of his hands.”

Maybe this was suicide and maybe it wasn’t.
With the amnesty crowd becoming ever more desperate, I wouldn’t put it past some to engineer a ‘heart-wrenching’ story for prime time news.
I know that sounds cynical, but...
It is only because the US is a kind, gentle and easily victimized country that he was able to get his family across the border and himself in custody. A properly defended border would have kept all of them out to begin with.
There is no excuse for not knowing the rules at this point. U.S. citizens are separated from their children every day for breaking the law and being sent to jail. Do these law-breakers think dragging their children over the border is their “get out of jail” card?
The guy was obviously mentally unstable. He (and his family) were criminal illegal alien invaders. Their life apparently was full of bad decisions. Oh, well.
Despite the MSMs push to paint America as a police state, I managed to have breakfast with folks of all backgrounds this AM, buy 200 rds of .223 for 35c the rd, and wrangle up 35 cigars despite some trade issue with Dominican republic.
If he loved his child he would not have deprived the child of his love and support.

That’s how Mrs. rktman’s family (mom, aunt, uncle) had to do it back in the early 60’s. Church family sponsors for them to come over. Displaced/forced into relo camp in Yugoslavia by Tito after WW2 then shipped back to Germany where they immigrated from years before, then some came to the states and other aunts and uncles remained in West Germany.

At any time the guy could have said “OK, we agree to turn around and go home” and the BP would have him sign a waiver and that’s that.
That’s how deportations normally occur. Otherwise you have to go through the whole immigration court gig, and nowadays that means incarceration and separation.
So the entire thing is HIS FAULT.

If the guy freaked out at that point, the family should just have been turned back into Mexico. Of course, the Mexicans would probably have shot them as they crossed the border.

I admit that until recently, I never knew of their existence, using other sources for news leads. It seems to me that this rag is the equivalent of the WA-POS, and huff and puff POS.
As we saw this last week with the case of Kate Spade and the CNA Gourmet cook fellow, one can have an awful lot going for them in life and still make the decision to kill oneself.
I bet Bourdain did a show on the Wonders of Honduras...
