What the heck is this about? I have reread it several times and it makes no sense.
someone’s got to foot the big oopsie.
That writer needs a good editor.
Disjointed stream of consciousness is about the most charitable characterization. It lacks both theme and flow.
LOL
As near as I can tell, something to do with the ambush and trial of the two biker gangs in Waco.
I could easily be mistaken!
I agree, there is so much style to the writing of this article that it is unreadable unless youre the writer.
Ah, writing and logic worth akin to that of Ruth Buzzy Ginsburrg.
Thanks ,,,, Somebody has seen the writing on the wall ,,,,,Hard times in Waco coming on strong there will be a mass exodus soon. Time to start investing in U-haul.....
Very poorly written article....bottom line - pieced together from this and other stories - Waco and the county are about to get their collective asses sued over the biker shootout and they don’t have any $$ and came up with the brilliant idea of raising everyone’s property taxes.
Disclaimer: I used to be a real estate appraiser and I used to live in Texas......and have not owned a motorcycle in 40 years.

oops.....I blame the computer.
I guess I’ve read so much of Jim Parks’ banter that it now makes sense to me.
The irony is that Waco has turned into somewhat of a boom-town in the years prior to the fiasco. That couple on TV who flip houses enticed that area into a hot sweat. That and the combination of some of the cheapest housing in Texas and low taxes drew quite a few people in from DFW and Austin.
Waco is just a big-ass flat rock sitting on a riverbank.
I think that the writer is tying the costs of the biker trials and possible liability of the city and county to jacking up appraisal values to generate more tax money . Definitely needed an editor
The question left unasked will be the effect of the impact of this fiasco on actual property values in Waco.
Baylor football being back on the bottom and predicted to stay there for at least a generation, has brought Waco back to the bottom.
The city tried to blame Chip and Joanna Gains for the high appraisals on residential properties. Then the appraisers admitted they did not include the Fixer Upper houses as comparables.
If I remember correctly the appraised values can only go up a maximum of 10% a year. So the 17% figure is misleading.
One of our younger relatives's company was bought out by a company based in Texas. They are a good company, and they would like their vps to move to Texas.
It sounded good until the wife of this man, a Wharton grad did some research and found the following:
I forgot to add; I think the author was trying to channel Molly Ivins.
Oh, I thought this was going to be a story about Batman leaving Gotham and going to Texas.
