What the heck is this about? I have reread it several times and it makes no sense.

That writer needs a good editor.

Disjointed stream of consciousness is about the most charitable characterization. It lacks both theme and flow.

Very poorly written article....bottom line - pieced together from this and other stories - Waco and the county are about to get their collective asses sued over the biker shootout and they don’t have any $$ and came up with the brilliant idea of raising everyone’s property taxes.
Disclaimer: I used to be a real estate appraiser and I used to live in Texas......and have not owned a motorcycle in 40 years.

I read it. It is not as bad as described, in fact pretty good and a good editor could have made it great. The point is that the political elite in Waco messed up big time. In short he appears to be trying to say: 1. The appeals process for property tax assessments is overwhelmed. 2. This is because the appraisers raised assessments an unjusified 17% to pay for the expected enormous uninsured liabilities that are anticipated in the face of the Waco biker frame-up. 3. Such a frame-up is evidenced by the 11-1 acquittal of one biker in the face of no direct evidence. 4. An idiot judge allowed the jury to be bored by irrelevant expert testimony on the history composition, organization and culture of biker gangs in place of direct evidence that this group of bikers was enjoying the services of this restaurants in furtherance of a criminal conspiracy. 5. Ballistics evidence was scant and very incomplete - one is lead to believe because a thorough ballistics analysis would have demonstrated that the police/SWAT were at fault here. 6. The DA is a self-serving grandstanding SOB.

The question left unasked will be the effect of the impact of this fiasco on actual property values in Waco.

What he apparently was trying point out is how much so many cities/counties in Texas have increased property taxes to pay for their inflated budgets.

One of our younger relatives's company was bought out by a company based in Texas. They are a good company, and they would like their vps to move to Texas.

It sounded good until the wife of this man, a Wharton grad did some research and found the following:

Oh, I thought this was going to be a story about Batman leaving Gotham and going to Texas.
