The government needs to get out of the business of forced association. If the marketplace wants to punish someone for making a business decision like this, so be it. The government needs to stay out of it.

I don’t have any problem with any business owner of any persuasion unilaterally deciding that they want to exclude a certain base of customers.

The market will sort it out.

The government has no business whatsoever of forcing a business to do business with anyone.

And yes, that means I am perfectly ok with the Atheist who wants to exclude Christians, with the KKK member who wants to exclude Blacks, or with the Black who wants to exclude “crackers.”

Find another place to shop. When the government steps in and forces people to do business with others because of “feelings” it creates problems and infringes on liberty.

Freedom is hard. People don’t want to be free. They want nanny government to come in and protect their little feelings.

“The government needs to stay out of it.”

Has anyone on this thread that the government should get involved?

Several posters already talked about “lawsuits” and “actionable discrimination.” That’s the government getting involved, by definition.

Regardless, it doesn’t matter what people on the thread are, or are not, saying.

I was responding to your specific point about the market. IF the market punishes this gentleman for the decision that he makes, so be it. The market might also reward him too. It depends on a variety of factors.

If the government stayed out of these things, we will all be better off. Let the market decide.

“Several posters already talked about “lawsuits” “

I don’t like the hardware man’s chances in lawsuit.

There might no be a judgement against him, but he will be bankrupted.

By the way, the people of Grainger County, Tennessee are not likely to engage in a boycott. It isn’t anything like the cesspool socialists collectivist scum buckets like vast parts of Kalifornia.

Such a lawsuit would not survive a motion to dismiss. There has to be a LEGAL cause of action to be successful in a lawsuit.

Hurt feelings don’t cut it.

Tennessee’s public accommodation law doesn’t protect sodomite perverts. He can “discriminate” all that he wants. He won’t be bankrupted by a lawsuit that would be sanctionable and dismissed at the outset.

I don’t think the recent ruling protects this type of discrimination. The baker didn’t refuse to serve the gay couple. If they had not ordered a gay-themed cake requiring his artistic talents to portray and celebrate their objectionable perverted relationship, they would have had no problem. They could have ordered any number of cakes without the gay theme from the baker, without objection.

In this case the business owner is refusing to serve anyone who is gay (and you can’t always tell). Not the same thing.

Can he send me all of the gay business he turns away? I may not agree with homosexuality, but their cash spends just as well as anyone else’s. If you can’t beat em, bill em.

It’s a stupid stunt, by a retard.

Like how the hell does he know? Pepole are there to buy stuff, not to preform sex acts.

But hey, watch the hayseeds here cherr this while the press plasters this all over the nation.

Thank You.

How does he know someone is “gay”, anyway?

This is just smartass provocation.

Public accommodations laws should only apply in cases of genuine emergency. A hotel should not be able to deny someone lodging during a hurricane just because he or she belongs to a particular group.

Other than that, what the store owner wants, the store owner should get. If a store owner posts a sign saying "No conservatives allowed," I won't enter the store, I won't sue, and I might even be thankful for the warning. If they don't want to do business with me, I don't want to do business with them.
