She should have spent the money on a good psychiatrist.

Mental illness, attention seeking.
Similar to women dying their hair bizarre colors, but unfortunately harder to reverse.

I recently saw a very old woman with tattoos. All I could think of was why.

I know a tattoo guy he told me older customers are the best/easiest since their skin is flabby.

What a dreadfully sad commentary on the state of our society and culture when this self-inflicted, intentional gross and obscene disfigurement of this young woman's once beautiful, God designed body is glorified and upheld as something "beautiful" to be emulated by others.
This debasing "freak show" mentality is utterly tragic

Getting yourself done up like that is basically putting a neon sign over your head that says, "Major emotional/psychological issues". Or "demonically possessed."

Map of the World (Smothers Brothers)The story of a young lady who showed up to a costume party tattooed as a map of the world.
Her eyes were Siam,
Her nose was Hindustan,
And on her knees was Greece.
Her chest was Brazil,
Her back was Bunker Hill,
Her hips were Constantinople.
Just then I spied my wife,
And to avoid a future strife,
I let the rest of the world go by.

I have had female employees ask me about tattoos and I tell them it is your choice but I find them to be ugly and degrading and low class. If they are hell bent on getting one I always suggest they put it where it can be covered up for future employment, that some employers won’t put up with it and one woman said that is not fair. To which I said it is their business they don’t have to hire you if they think it will hurt their business. And I do know business owners who have told me if you walk in with a tattoo in an exposed area they toss that persons application in the trash when they walk out.
The girl on American Pickers is a prime example of a pretty woman who mutilates themselves. She started out a pretty woman and now looks like a pile of ugly with the way she has defaced and deformed herself.

Good for you! The company I work for does not allow you have your tattoos exposed. In summer, it’s funny to see the girls come in on a 100 degree day in long sleeves to hide their tats....on girl has to wear a turtle neck or scarf everyday to hide the tats on her neck.
At 46, I am the fifth oldest in my office. About half here are beween 22 and 30 and they all have tattos. One day a group of them were talking about their tats and how much the spent on them. Then one of them says “You have any tattoos?” I replied, “No, Inhave a mortgage and other bills to pay.” See, they all live with their parents with no pathway to getting a place of their own because they blow thousands of dollars on tattoos. I may have lived at home until I was 27, but I was doing it to save money to buy a home and I had enough for a down payment for my home when I was 27. These kids will never make it.
