A whiteboard message at Oregon State Universitys library asks students to try to avoid eating foods, especially smelly foods, in shared spaces to be considerate of those who are observing Ramadan.
The Muslim holy month this year runs from about May 15 to June 14. During this period, Muslims are obligated to fast from dawn until sunset. Presumably, the sign was made to encourage non-observers to not eat foods with strong smells because it would make Muslim students hunger worse, or that it might be disrespectful.
It is not unheard of for a university to work with Muslim students during this time.
During last years Ramadan, three University of Washington professors offered special exam times for those observing the tradition. The professors held their tests later at night to give the observers a chance to eat before taking their tests.

HEADLINE
Smelly food like dry rub barbecue pork ribs, deep fried rinds and cornbread with jalapeno?
BACONATOR. Nuke it in the common area microwave.
Ummmmmmm.... Bacon!
F*** these muzzies and their sensibilities and their moon god and their pedophile prophet.
One could extrapolate that to include any eatery, commons area or even dorms.
Soon, it will no longer be request but not long be a requirement that all food will no longer be permitted in all shared spaces!
Squeal like a pig, boy!
I don’t think I’ve been in a school library where eating and drinking was allowed, not even in college.
I would eat tacos and beans and fart in their general direction.
peer
[peer]
noun
a person of the same legal status: a jury of one's peers.
a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status. something of equal worth or quality:
Ramadan aside, I hate when people bring smelly foods into places like the library or a classroom. Theres the cafeteria and all of outdoors for that stuff
Students asked not to eat smelly food in library to respect peers who are poor and can't eat as often.
Then the next month after that:
Students asked not to eat food in library unless they bring some for everyone.
And then college is now kindergarten.

Eating is prohibited at just about every library that I have been to, with the exception of lounges, coffee bars or cafes that are sometimes found in libraries.
“Rectums have bones?”
I was going to post something
about the LBGTQ crowd, but
thought better of it..../sarc
Next time you complain about your job, think about the people who have to invert pork rectums.
How about a little respect for Christians?
Truly don’t know if I’ve ever smelled it. That being said, have heard a number of persons tell me ‘that smells worse than Limburger Cheese’. Blue cheese, Stilton, smells just as pungent. Personally, Cheddar is and always will be the go-to choice here.
Limberger is mild compared to German Tilsit!
Proper Fasting
16Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. 17But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face; 18That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.
