A saltwater crocodile has eaten a dog that made a mockery of it for years, to the horror of onlookers.
At Goat Island Lodge, south of Darwin in the middle of the crocodile-infested Adelaide River, guests had gathered to watch pup Pippa perform her favourite trick — running at Casey the crocodile to scare her back into the river.
But to the alarm of those looking on, including owner Kai Hansen, Pippa ran straight at her head — and Casey "did what crocs do".
The video of Pippa being dragged into the water was made worse by the screams of bystanders, but serves as a bleak warning about the river's dangers.
As Mr Hansen conceded, "it was something that had a high probability of happening sometime".

Shame on the dog’s owners for encouraging the dog to chase the crocodile. This was bound to happen. Shame on them!

Well I’ll be doggone.
As a dog parent and dog lover, this story saddens me immensely. I can’t believe people are actually laughing about this poor dog being eaten. Horrific.
I blame the owner of the dog for being incredibly careless and irresponsible.
It kind of makes me happy. I mean the dog died doing what he loved to do.
Now I need to go watch the video.

My nickname for those small yappy dogs has always been “BAIT.” Used to do a lot of shark fishing.

I didn’t see the video but after a decade, a dog will lose a step or two.

owner shouldn’t be allowed to own any more dogs:
“At least they should let him own some left wing
politicians.”

It’s what crocs do. They are big mouthed eating machines.
To paraphrase Chris Rock, “That crocodile didn’t go crazy, that crocodile went CROCODILE!”
I blame the owner. Had the owner disciplined the dog, keeping it from “playing” with an apex predator, the dog would be just fine, and there would have been no article.
