Johnson has already served 21 years of a life sentence after she was convicted on charges of conspiracy to possess cocaine and attempted possession of cocaine....
Ms. Johnson has accepted responsibility for her past behavior and has been a model prisoner over the past two decades. Despite receiving a life sentence, Alice worked hard to rehabilitate herself in prison, and act as a mentor to her fellow inmates, the White House said in a statement Wednesday afternoon.
While this Administration will always be very tough on crime, it believes that those who have paid their debt to society and worked hard to better themselves while in prison deserve a second chance, the statement added.

One has to wonder why Obama didn’t pardon this woman.
In California you can murder somebody, plead guilty to manslaughter, and you are out in 9 years.
I wondered...
How about Curtis McDonald, who was also sentenced to life in prison for the same thing (working with Johnson)? Or doesn’t he count?
No telling how many lives were ruined or ended by this ‘nonviolent’ enterprise.
But Kim and the Princess have the President’s ear, so...
Good move. In the old USSR a “tenner” 10 years was the maximum sentence. It was likely death from conditions, but they even recognized 10 years as an extreme prison term.
In the old west, bank robbers, horse thieves, etc got fairly short sentences of 5 years or less.
Butch and Sundance both served less than 2 years for horse theft and other related conspiracies.
Now we lock up someone for life without any possibility of parole for naughty vegetables. This is especially ironic when one considers things like how much dope the CIA has moved over the years. Places like Mena Arkansas and how the Clintons protected the contra cocaine ring.
It’s also disgusting that Bill Clinton, Bush W, and Obama all used cocaine. You would think one of them would have had the common decency to grant clemency to the people who supplied their needs.
She sounds like George HW Bush in that respect.
She was part of a multi-million dollar money-laundering drug cartel, not as innocent as they make her sound. Why didn’t Obama do anything; he was apparently applied to three times.
All of our life's would be better if we had never heard of these horrid people.
Barry did a sh!t load of commutations for drug sentences, before he left. Wonder why he didn’t take care of this woman?
“No telling how many lives were ruined or ended by this nonviolent enterprise.”
The US government has no right to lock up anyone for cocaine as long as the CIA and Bush/Clinton cabal members walk around free, despite moving tons of cocaine through Mena Arkansas.
Seriously. It’s beyond doubt that it happened. It’s a head shaker that the US govt prosecutes people.

Trump pardoned Dinesh dsouza, Jack Johnson and now her. Now where are the white people? And jack Johnson was a favor to Sylvester Stallone who started the ball rolling on JJ, and they talked on the phone about it..
I think serving 21 years is fair for what she did. She knew it was a cocaine ring but she wasn’t in charge of it and was never violent. Plus, the fact that he commuted the sentence, not pardoned her, means the conviction stays on her record.
Well stated.
I agree.
Supposed talk of Libby and Blagojevich.
I do not disagree with you!
That said, then let’s get everyone (within reason) out breathing free. And not just those who happened to be lucky enough to have an advocate in the White House.
Although in my better world, the coke dealers would remain locked up... and would be joined in the clink by governmental types who used it, and smuggled it.
The murder weapon was tossed into the ballona creek by o.j. himself on the ride to the airport Robert got rid of the bloody clothes and towels
Whenever something frivolous, liberal, or idiotic (or all of the above) comes out of the White House, it's usually a safe bet that it's a pet project of Javanka.
Agree. There are soldiers and sailors in Leavenworth doing life right now that should have been pardoned on day 1 in office.
I find this depressingly childish.
