The media is using the statement to say that Trump disinvited them because they personally didn’t stand (when they did). I read Trump’s statement as saying his comments and advocacy on this issue which led to a rule change were a factor in players not showing up (at least in part). Just because they stood, doesn’t mean they don’t think other players should have to stand.
