Dog owners are irresponsible. If a dog bites a person the law should be that it’s put down without question and the owner fined 10,000 dollars and pays for all medical bills.

Here in Illinois we have what is known as the “One Bite” Law. But the first one ain’t free. My wife was bitten by our neighbor’s dog, a Jack Russel terrier. Two tiny little holes in her finger. It looked like she got poked with a pencil.

36 hours later she was in the hospital with a fever of over 103. They kept her for 8 days. It damned near killed her.

The animal was quarantined for a week with the owners, nice folks btw, paying for it. They were fined and when all was said and done the judgement agains them was over $120,000.00 plus expenses and time off.

Our lawyer took 1/3 as is customary.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

This would certainly raise the bar for animal ownership.

Ownership = Responsibility

An interesting concept.
