Actually, they aren’t. When people talk about “the unelected bureaucrats of Brussels”, they usually mean the European commission. The commission is an organisation like no other: more than a civil service but less than a government. Composed of 28 commissioners – one from each country – the commission drafts, enforces and monitors EU laws. But it does not pass laws.... The commission cannot foist laws upon EU member states. For example, the commission spent eight years trying to get EU countries to agree to a law on cleaning up Europe’s contaminated soils, but eventually withdrew the bill in the face of an immovable blocking majority, which included the UK.
This claim mainly refers to the EU Commission: the EU’s executive body. It is true that the Commission President and the individual Commissioners are not directly elected by the peoples of Europe. So, in that sense, we cannot “throw the scoundrels out”. It is also true that under the provisions of the EU treaty, the Commission has the sole right to propose EU legislation, which, if passed, is then binding on all the EU member states and the citizens of these member states.So much for any rubber-stamp talk.Also, ‘proposing’ is not the same as ‘deciding’. Put another way, the Commission can only propose EU laws in areas where the UK government and the House of Commons has allowed it to do so.

Right back to what I said initially that apparently caused so much puzzlement. Germany and France tried to impose a financial transactions tax, and the UK refused. That contentious meeting probably contributed to support for Brexit. Now the need [sic] for greater financial commitments to hold the whole Frankenstein's monster together and keep it electrified will not be forthcoming -- it was different when Sarkozy and Merkel thought they could browbeat Cameron, now it's just Macron and Merkel, while smaller states are flipping off the EU, leaving nowhere to raise the money to keep the occupied countries (Italy and Greece, Greek Cyprus) under control.

Cameron was pleased with the deal he negotiated with the EU and campaigned on it. That hasn't and never will change, so you are still wrong about the UK being ganged up on.
