Re: Weight loss for a movie role

I hope so. I enjoy the great rebels and “outlaws.” As long as they don’t become dangerous or a perpetual nuisance, anyway.

Oh, and thanks for the LOL poster of Keith Richards!

“guy’s just a machine”

That’s Charlie Watts for sure.

He’s more accurate than a metronome. And lags just enough to put the Roll in the Stones.

Never, ever misses a beat, high-hat crunch or bass hammer...but still has that swing.

"Old Jonny Carson joke: ”Did you hear about the concert fan who ran up on stage at the Stones concert and started hitting Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts with a rubber chicken? (Pause) He said he was trying to kill two Stones with one bird ...”

Another Carson Gem, it may not be perfect from memory:

"Did ya hear the Sex Pistols, broke up? Ya they couldn't see carrying on after a local Judge said they couldn't perform Debbie Gibson's "You light up my Life" while getting a high colonic on stage."

I agree with you - he is very interesting.
Have you ever noticed how how dresses off stage?
He was voted one of the 10 best dressed men in the world a few years back.

I still chuckle at the story Keith tells of the group partying excessively one night - except for Charlie, who had gone to bed much earlier.

Mick called him at 3:00am and said he “wanted to party with ‘his’ drummer.”
Charlie got out of bed, shaved, took a shower, put on a custom made suit and Italian shoes and met Mick in the stairwell where he slapped him and said
“I am not “your” drummer”.

Beautiful.

Watts is a jazz drummer in a rock and roll band. I think he was born about 20 years too late, would have been fantastic in the classic swing bands of the era.

Running around on that stage (and singing) for 90 minutes every night is a cardio workout.

Dunno. I don’t know that I’d ever heard it was suspicious. Brian Jones was already a wreck and had been pushed out of the band so I’m not sure what there would have been to gain by the handyman... not that murder necessarily has logic.

Yep, his dress is one of the things that first makes you suspect Watts is quite different from the rest of the band. Kind of a James Bond without the spy part...although that would give him the perfect cover, like Julia Child. Then when you find out that he was a serious jazz drummer before joining the Stones it makes sense. In fact you wonder how he managed to stay with them. Maybe he only stays with them on stage.

That story is good.

Lemmy and Dio kept going to the very end. Same with Jon Lord of Deep Purple.
